cheaper than lipo. and charge is in 15 minutes flat. and the 6.6V 4600 makes the same power, weighs less, and runs longer than a 4600 7 cell nimh! thats sick. im getting a set soon

Hey Street
Gonna buy a new motor and new ESC now. Need your advice on this one.
Do you really think that the Mamba Max 6900 ($213) is worth almost $100 more than the price of the following combo?:
[link=http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&W=000540027&I=LXLRE2&P=K]Associated LRP V10 Spec.4 Motor 9T Double[/link]
and
[link=http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&W=000540027&I=LXRE98&P=K]Associated IPC Pro Sport [/link]
total cost $117.
The spec on that motor looks really impressive - 47000rpm and 201W. I obivously am on a budget as I am buying a lot of ali hop-hup from rcmart.com, plus a new chassis, etc. I really like the sound of the mamba max and would like one, but............. that is a huge difference in cost.
I think this will be stupidly quick anyway after seeing the sorts of speed I'm getting from a 15 turn on and old ESC.
Cheers

RE: Official Dark Impact Thread
well ive found out for myself that just because the specs look impressive, doesnt mean its an impressive motor. one, those specs are on 7.2V and your motor wont get all 7.2V to it. two, it will probly need rebuilding soon. those are good motors yes, great motors. but they dont last. in my opinion, brushless is worth the extra money. it will last a LOT longer. brushed gets to a point (typically about 10 races) before it needs the comm cut and new or cleaned brushes installed. with brushless, you dont deal with any of it. and a brushless motor will last you a lot longer. i got a brushless motor for my TC in september last year, and havent had any problems with it at all. its the most insane power ive ever seen. where as ive already replaced brushes on a 17 turn that i got for my ST at the same time. brushless cost more at first, but you will love it, and t will last longer. plus the power is absolutely incredible. ive seen videos of rustlers with mamba 5700 systems and those A123 batteries. on 6.6V it was balloning moab tires and and doing wheelies on demand at any speed. its absolutely amazing. im gonna say spend the extra 100 on a brushless system. you wont regret it.

I'll probably end up going brushless as well....motor brushes are not expensive it's just..
brushless requires little maintenence...all you have to do is keep the motor bearings oiled...
And I dont have a lathe yet..[:@]

Yup, but with Tower I get $30 off too and free shipping so only a few $'s difference.
Darn keen price though. If Tower wasn't offering that money off I would definitely buy from them.
Thanks

RE: Official Dark Impact Thread
I was looking at some upgrades for my Dark Impact from RCmart. I've heard people say not to mess with any of the "yeah racing" products. Why is that? What about the CVDS? Also, I was looking at the GPM CVD's. What do you guys think about those?

The center oneway lets you keep the front diff, you can still have diff action, with the front oneway you have locked diff on power.....
street mode.... why did Pro-line stop making these tires for ?

RE: Official Dark Impact Thread
What has everyone done to take out the slop in the drivetrain?
When I 1st got my DI it was used and had allot of slop when you spun the driveshaft with your fingers and looked like it wobbled when I tested on bench.
I used hotglue to tighten-up the pin/gear fit on the front input and rear output gear and then used silicone in the plastic pieces the driveshaft slips into. I hope this works, I'll test tomorrow and report backbut checking for slop on the bench with my fingers seems to have very little slop left at all.

RE: Official Dark Impact Thread
Does anybody know where to get the Aluminium hopups and a new chassis from? I was looking at rcmart, but when you checkout all the extra charges, no way man, it's like an extra 20% on top of what I want to order.
Please help as I want to order the stuff now. Will be placing an order for my MM 6900 from the place mentioned by Redbarton, only realised tonight that Tower won't give me the free shipping they offered me with the $30 discount, so ends up being cheaper at the other place. Also interesting to note that the Motor and ESC bought seperately are cheaper than the set, I am of course assuming that the ESC comes with the cable and software too.
Also, those 3 Racing 'aluminium' shocks, they look like only the body is aluminium, the mounting points look like they are plastic? Is this so and are they any good?
Cheers
Luis
