R/C fan's TRF415 build thread (official 415 thread)
okay well today I took advantage of tamiyausa's sale of a TRF415 with Subraru Legacy body and upgraded motor heatsink for $290 shipped. It should arrive by next weekend sometime. I'm going to take lots of pictures and make this into a huge build thread. I know cheap speed and aer wubby both own TRF415's and if anyone else owns one, please chime in and share your tips or experiences with the board. I will paint my Legacy in tamiya blue violet, and will also run my BMW M3 GT and Ferrari F-430 body on it. I am also interested in racing now that I own a very competition worthy model. I think I will try to find a good track in the area and race in the 19T or beginners class. I am looking forward to this build a lot, it will be the king of my collection with all its carbon fiber and machined aluminum. For electronics it'll get the brushless treatment with a novak GTB with velociti 4.5R motor, Futaba 3PM radio, for now a Futaba S3003 servo (will upgrade to high speed next tower order), and powering it all will be a trinity matched IB4200 6 cell pack. I am going to make a lexan chassis guard so that I don't scratch the nice CF chassis. I hope UPS comes soon

RC Fan Addict:
There is ONLY ONE track in the area (Worcester MA) unless you feel like driving to Enfield CT (3 hrs, due south of Springfield) or Plaistow, NH, or someplace north of Boston.
But... but... the track is pretty good. It's called RC Excitement in Fitchburg (take Rte 12 from Park Avenue north and keep on going until you hit Bemis Rd, then turn right) or you can get some good old Rte 190 treatment by taking that and exiting on Rte 12 and turning right on Bemis. Either way, it's hidden to your left right in front of a Tire Shop.
The store is packed. There's a lot of goods in there, and the racers are very friendly. The indoor track is nice. There is also an indoor Dirt Track for all you Electric Off Roaders (I'll be knocking when I upgrade my Pede even though there's no way it can kick butt) and an outdoor 1/8 dirt track (where I have been spending time at over the summer with my X1CR).
Good luck with the TRF!

I was thinking about getting one of these, but they look too good to bash or to break. You are going to race it right?

No such a thing as too good to bash.. I mean, when I said bash, I don't mean you should start taking it to the BMX park.. just for non-racing activities.. nothing wrong w/ driving a nice ride..

I don't have the heart. Parts can't be cheap either. Are the arms plastic? That's alot of money for bashing...

Tamiya threads seem different to other threads, you really get a feel for the build, as you see it at each stage of developement, and there's always a load of good pics/tips/upgrade suggestions. long live the build thread!

It should arrive within the week. I've also decided to post pone the F-150 purchase as I need a lot of tower stuff like 4-5 cans of paint (pricey stuff-$25, ouch [:@]) and I'm also getting a TT-01 rally so that I can steal the tires and body for use on my TA05 rally and then give the worn out onroad tires and ferrari body to the TT-01 and let my dad use the TT-01.

Good call on the F150. The TRF415 is a much more worthy contender... you can grab the race truck when tower has a ridiculous coupon in the next few months. (not that 30 off 149 isn't good).
