Default Upper and Lower Chassis

what is the difference between an upper chassis and a lower chassis?
i see you can buy both carbon if you want but i look at my car and to me it all looks like one peice
o yeah it is a rusty xl-5

The upper deck on a Rusty is the top front portion that covers the servo and stuff and stops right at the battery compartment. If it was one piece how would they install all those steering parts?
