If your track is sanctioned, you need a sensored motor, i reccomend this
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXRXY0&P=0
as for lipo, you need to check to see what the maximum MAH of the battery is, if any at all

Sactioned as in using a organization's rules like ROAR or IFMAR
As for lipos, im pretty sure they must be hard case like orion and peak power like u said
if they dont need to be hard cased, get like a 5000mah maxamps.

Get the Novak GTB esc with a 13.5 brushless motor that is equivalent to a 27 turn stock brushed motor and should be acceptable for Stock Truck Class. Get a 4000 mah MaxAmps 2S 7.4 volt Li-Po that will give you plenty of run time. If stock spur gear on truck, start with a 22 tooth pinion and play with going to a 2 or 3 teeth either way with it.
Also most Rookie Classes are run what you brung and I would go with a little more motor with a Novak 10.5 for Mike's track. I use a 7.5L in motor in my Mod Truck (T4).
www.carolinasrc.com has everything I mentioned and has the best deals on the internet.
Good luck!
Note: With the Novak GTB esc, you can use even faster motors and have longer runtimes.

RE: I want to get into r/c racing , I need some help.
Gearing is usually specific to the truck or buggy you have. For instance in my XXX-T CR, for a stock motor (27 turn) they reccomend a 17-19 tooth pinion. For brushless, the instructions say to use 2-3 more teeth. Check the directions for whatever truck/kit you get just to make sure. But I'd agree that around 20 somewhere is a good place to start.
And I am completely behind you with the GTB. I have one with the 13.5, its awesome. I also have an Orion 4800 mah LiPo. I can get about 20 mins on our track with that combo. This is definately the way to go. You don't need 3 or 4 packs for a race because you can charge/discharge a LiPo many times in the same day, whereas with a matched cell Nimh you should only run 1 or 2 cycles in a day. I used to dislike electrics - lots of packs, hours to charge, always having to cycle to prevent cell memory (yes I used to run in the NiCad days), easy to ruin a pack if you're not careful about fully cycling and charging, comm trueing, replacing brushes... with lipo & brushless its set it and forget it. OK, well, you have to blow the dust out of the motor and lube the bearings once in a while, but there's not much to them. I am stoked about electrics now!
PS: the XXX-T CR is a very nice kit. I am quite impressed by it. Coupled with the GTB 13.5, I did very well with it in my racing last night. I actually finished building it last night at the track. Broke in the diff on my pit table and threw it out there on my first qualifier as the trucks VERY FIRST RUN. Yep, tires never hit the ground till it was running a qualifer. Naturally, the slipper and the dif were both too loose so I took it off the track after a couple of laps. Tightened both of them up and threw it back down for the second qualifier. I came in second! Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that I had to run with the Mod trucks because I was the only one signed up for stock. So that little 13.5 is one fast freaking mill. Yes, the mods were catching/passing me in the straight, but not as badly as I thought they would.

RE: I want to get into r/c racing , I need some help.
, Thanks guys Ill look into these
Im thinking about asking for this charger
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXHDJ1&P=ML
And This batt
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXNMF9&P=ML
Only beacuse I see alot of them out there, Should I still go with maxxamps?
And I know this is under Electric but maybe someone will answer my question , Im thinking about asking for a nitro Losi to save money
and mikes is like 20 mins away from my house I dont mind the drive but theres an outdoor track closer to me , And The Electric setup I was looking at would cost more then a Nitro losi AD2 w/ a motor. But Im wondering how much stress racing puts on the nitro motors? and how often they have to be replaced if you are racing them?

I use the ICE, I like it. Its a good charger. Note that you need a power supply with that charger... I use this one: [link]http://www.etronics.com/p-23884-pyramid-ps-21kx-regulated-12v-20amp-power-supply.aspx[/link] Its overkill, but I also power a car stereo with it (tunes at the track are cool! [8D])
That battery is OK, but this is worth the extra money if you can afford it: [link]http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXLXR6&P=ML[/link]
I also have an AD2. Love that truck. My setup includes the OS .12 TZ. I easily have as much into my AD2 as I do my XXX-T CR. In fact, I bet they are very very close!
AD2 kit: $250
OS .12 $250
Servos: $180
rx $ 90
CR kit $250
GTB $250
servo $ 90
rx $90
Batt $130
Then there's the usual tires, spare parts, paint etc. All in all, its about the same cost wise. I am going on my 3rd season with the OS .12tz. But I can tell its getting close to needing a new piston/sleeve. In two years, I will probably have to replace the bearings in the brushless but that is about it.

RE: I want to get into r/c racing , I need some help.
there is no rule that says you have to run a sensord system....
a good setup for your base equip ment, if money is no issue.
XXX-T CR
LRP or Novak BL
orion 3600(if your doing stock or novice)
any decent FM or spektrum system, like futaba or JR
you wont need an amazing servo when doing stock or novice so you can just use the one that comes with the radio
team checkpoint or hyperion charger
then any tools and suppoert equipment
and tlk with the local guys on how to setup your truck, ask if one of them can help you build it or be there when you build it. if there are any factory/sponord drivers they might have a class to show you how to do everything. i actually race with Al Horne and Dakota Phend. Dakota is awsome...he is 10 years old and won stock buggy, stock truck, and 19t 4WD at the ROAR electric nats. good luck and have fun!

i know there is nothing wrong with buying used, i do it. but i think he would be better off getting everything new so he dosent have to deal with any problems the used cars might have. and if he where to buy a new kit he would know where everything is, how it wors, and how to fix it because HE built it himself.
P.S. you shouldnt try to see stuff on the forums novak.

if you really want to. i personally find more joy on electric, but you might enjoy nitro. just pick what you want and roll with it.
