Default comm drops?

is it necessary for brushed motors? I ask because when ever i add comm drops in my motor, it smokes up? i have to drive it slowly until it can run at full speeds again. or maybe i drop them on the wrong area?

No, it is unnecessary and usually not a good idea. It should be cleaned now (in the comm/brush area)

I tried it on my traxxas stinger motor. It wrecked the motor.(fortunatly it was a pretty crappy motor so it wasn't much of a loss).

comm drops (not breakin-drops) can give slight increase in power for a short time. If I WAS A DRAg racer I'd use them.

Stock class racers used them for a slight boost in performance at the start of the race, take the holeshot and don't look back lol. They do work, less friction between the brushes and comm until they burn off=higher rpm's/speed. I used to drill my brushes and pack cotton in the hole then soak the cotton with comm drops for a little extra umph......
