I have the Mamba max pro SCT ESC same thing as the Mamba max pro and the 3800kv motor. both work perfect for the Storm. I've been tinkering with my new Losi Scte, dropped in my Mamba Max Pro and the 2400kv motor. I may swap in my 3800kv and see which works better and sell the 2400kv and get another 3800kv. I'm also trying to buy a MMP if anyone knows anyone selling one, need it for the storm now

The one shown has a 3.2mm shaft just like mine.  Some guy in the XS thread said the mmp version came with a 5mm shaft.  Its a great combo, I highly recommend it.

Any link to the 5mm shaft one? That one would prob be a little better. Only one on Tower is the 3.2mm

that's what i would have said if i were you, but... try a little, ok alot lower! $125. guy said he just didn't wanna screw with it anymore basically cuz he didn't have time for it, so its gonna be all mine Saturday. i plan on selling the DX2E and receiver for $60. is that enough or too much?

Good deal for sure.  60 sounds fair, I think I sold one for 50 two years ago.

I just burned a pack in the storm and half a pack in the XS.  I've been taking for granted the warm asphalt all summer.  It took a while to heat the road rage tires up but when it did the truck hooked up well.  It was cogging a little but under hard power a bit after take off which I have never experienced before.

Well....That answers that then.

No fan till I get a wheelie bar.
I made a skid plate from aluminum. Seems to work great.

you may want to drill some vent holes in that for air flow so it's not sucking it all in from the side...

Nice rustang.  Welcome.  Which ESC is that you are running with the SCT motor?  How thick is the shaft?

Rust- just cut a hole for the fan in the stock motor guard like I did, only I got a heat sink in the hole. Then mount your wheely bar with longer screws. If you can rotate the fan UP as far as possible.

Rob, did some digging, and the mmp SCT motor/esc does appear for have a 5mm shaft. I found it on AMain as well as Tower. Can't seem to find the motor with a 5mm shaft by itself though. just the 1/8" one. But, you can buy a replacement rotor that gives it the 5mm shaft still in 3800kv.

Here's the combo on AMain and Tower: AMain. Tower. Amain has it listed for $15 cheaper.
Then here's the replacement roto on Tower: Here. It's labeled as a motor repair kit, but I assume it would be a drop in for the 3.2mm shaft version.

One question though....

Is the 5mm shaft that much of an advantage? Or is it just a matter of preference? Either way, I'll more than likely end up ordering this set, selling off my LRP X12L, since I won't be needing it, then keeping the FLUX 5700 MMp set up for race nights, and use the CC SCT set in the roller for bashing at home and teaching my gf to drive. She's starting to get interested.

I'm prolly just gonna trim the stock motor guard enough to fit the fan. That way I can keep some protection on the botom, if nothing else. Looks like if Ipush the fan all the way toward the gearbox, i can keep a considerable amount of material below the motor. We'll find out tomorrow, I guess. Tracking number says it will, anyway.

I thought of venting the skid plate but I did some bashing and tuning with it like that and my motor temps never went above 125* in 80* weather. Running a 87 spur and a 21 pinion. I do have the 5mm shaft on my motor. I don't think there is any benefits to it but did have problems finding 48 pitch pinions with a 5mm hole. No hobby shop around me had any. Had to order from eBay. Its the MMP SCT esc with the 3800kv motor. Very happy with this setup.

hey everyone I had to switch my MMP and 3800kv out into my SCTE, I may possibly order another 3800kv motor cause there one of the best 1/10th scale motors. I currently put back in the stock 4800kv as its spinning more rpms on  2s just not as torquey. I had to  buy another MMP for the storm because the SV2 esc doesnt work as good compaired to the MMP.

Should be interesting to see how it does on 2s with the 4800kv and geared 77/24

turnigy 3s 5000mah barely fits. According to my dx2s its going 51mph not really sure till I put my GPS on it but it is super fast. I love this ESC motor combo!

The 4wd sct's are about the same as 4wd buggys, just bigger lol. lots of tuning options like a touring car. I think there's a forum or page that's full of terms, explains it good. but I can't remember if it's here or somewhere else. Some of the magazines sites have term list explanations. like rc411.com or rccaraction.com

There is a good book you can download from Hudy that explains all of the dimensions well.  Also, any losi race vehicle has a good explanation at the end of the manual (8t2 has a great description).

I noticed they introduced many of the european trucks.  Its led to an overlap of vehicles in the same class.  I'm glad.  If the savage XS didn't just come out I would have looked at the bullet MT.  I wonder why they have such different lineups in the different markets.  You wouldn't think there would be so much variance with RC.

It was weird in europe, though, they sold a savage X rtr, kit and flux just like the north american ones as well as the original savage 21 with reverse and a blue anodized chassis?!

The truggy, buggy and bullet versions are older hot bodies vehicles  I believe the truggy and buggy are the older HB lightning designs that were replaced by the D8/D8t.

yeah the bullet MT looks very similar to the savage just with a smaller motor and shorter wheelbase. Its a cool looking rig though.

On a side note, do you guys run any mircos/minis indoors just for fun?  Just to "chase the cat around" or whatever?  I want something small that I can drive around inside my condo but I can still kinda "soup up" if you will.  I was looking at some 1/12 scale pan cars even though I know they are not micro scale.  My cup racer is a little too big.
