I went for a drive today and took my camera. [sm=49_49.gif] I really need to get the Novak Crawler System for this thing...or at least a better ESC.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IOWKj11m8bw

Tomorrow I may have to take the Slash out to the same spot and make another one.

I installed a Duratrax Blast because it was all I had and I'm tapped out until payday. It is not the worst ESC, but it make it very difficult to start off slowly. []

Yeah, for crawling, I guess a smooth ESC would be very helpful!!

I sprayed the gun metal first, and some got on the shell (where I was planning on putting yellow later).. so it looks pretty lousy if you look closely.. I should have just done the whole thing in gun metal..

The yellow / white is not bad..

Anyway, like I said, bash shell.. ha! Can always take the light unit off and mount to other shell later, so it is no big deal!

Alpha, I love the video! That's just about how I would use the CR-01 if I get one. I think I'd get bored with pure rock crawling, but the trail type driving you did in the video really makes me want to buy one......now I'm torn between this or a Slash(I know they are completely different, but I want both and my budget is limited).

Thanks, I'm glad you liked the video. [sm=thumbs_up.gif] I certainly enjoyed making it. I enjoy driving this truck so much more than the Tamiya F-350 that I had!

Nice rack, LB, but you might want to reconsider. I kind of wish I had not added the roof rack to my Landy body because it makes it a little bit top-heavy and wobbley. [] Now there are holes where I mounted it, so it must stay.

Alpha, that was an awesome vid, nice camera angles, the whole thing looked very scale. Sure the rack might have made the truck top heavy, looks cool though...

I think I already mentioned that I gave my brother the wheels/tires off my Axial to use on his CR01. Well here are a few pictures of it with them on. I stripped the green anodizing off the beadlock rings with oven cleaner, and then painted them mat black. I also swapped the beadlock rings around so the insides ones are now outside to give it a cleaner look.

Look at that flex!

Yeah i twisted up my shafts aswell, thinking about up grade. will keep you posted. I wish Tamiya would revisit the areas that need fixing on the CR01, i know it's not going to happen but it would be nice, maybe ill sent them an e-mail....

I wonder if there's any cheap alternatives.. or you'd have to go w/ some full metal unit ($$$) [:@]

Well if MIP comes out with a set like they did for the AX10 then it would be about $50, not too terrible. I think RC4wd is making a set but they'll probably be twice as much.

The other alternative is going with one of the Traxxas shafts. I've been running Stampede shafts in my Axial for a while without a problem, but if you're really wanting to go bulletproof I think you can modify Jato shafts to fit.

Those Jato shaft -> I wonder why they are better.. I have a couple of them lying around (when I was working on my TLT, which, reminds me, that I should get back on some of my projects, ha ha!) and I am curious as why they are better...

I mean, it looks like the shaft is twisted at the shaft's body.. not breaking the universals.. Jato shafts use better plastic?! Hmm...

Oh yeah, Dr. Evil, thanks for posting those pics and the link! I like those pics.. you must use some sort of light booth, eh?! Looks good! The video is cool too! Nice! [sm=thumbs_up.gif]

Well if you place the Axial shafts next to the Stampede shafts you can't really tell the difference except that the plastic is a little more shiney on the Stampede shafts. However once they're in the truck its obvious which ones are which because the Stampede shafts don't break as easy. So yea I guess it is a different plastic.

I haven't seen Jato shafts in person but I've heard they're much stronger than the Stampede shafts. I just always assumed they're larger in some way.

As for the pics, Thanks for the good words. I don't use any type of light booth or anything like that. I'm just using white paper as a background and a good bounce flash.

I use the Jato shaft in the TLT and REVO shaft in the TXT.. I still got one left (Jato shaft) so I will try that out if (when? ha!) the Tamiya shaft fails..
