Man, it's a crawler, not meant for high speed climbing over steep hills and bashing hard like that. But Tamiya is very durable.

Guess that is the fastest CR-01 ever seen, I have been wrong.

been off the charts for a while, work and restoring the full size toys has had me pretty busy. i am definitely gonna have to pick up one of these CR-01's and start planning some mods. i still have plenty of aluminum stashed around so i will have to make up some parts. axial and others have came on board to the crawler crowd, but no one makes a splash like tamiya does. got my eye on a traxxas slash as well, but thats a whole 'nother thread all together

Anyways, would you guys think that it would be cool to paint either the Land Cruiser or Unimog bodies Cyan color? It would looks great!

If I have a Unimog CR-01, I would definitely paint it that color!

This is for the discussion purpose.. here's my Blizzard w/ Tamiya PS-3 (Light Blue).. is this kind of what you are thinking?! Maybe you are thinking about something even lighter? (I think the pic looks darker than it is..)

Yeah, something like that LB, but a little bright the Cyan Color is. But that color looks great as well!

Like I said, the PS-3 is actually slightly lighter than what my pic shows.. I think the white snow affects the picture and make the shell looks darker..

The actual paint job will look somewhere in between.. ha!

I finally got a chance to take my CR-01 out to a park this afternoon. This thing climbs much better than I thought! (of course I ended up on the roof a few times!)

Here's a couple of action shots.....

It was made to be slow, so it has the ability to crawl over stuff. But can it bash or was it just made for the rocks?

Yeah, I seen that video. Mostly it was meant to be crawl. Very few uses crawlers for bashing them up. But it's funny to see a Land Cruiser hitting more than 20mph.

Hey all,

I've been lurking for a few months as I've been looking to get back into the RC game after like 15 years. My last RC was a Traxxas Bullet, old school with the gold chassis that copied the RC-10 haha! I remember we used to have so much fun back in the day, my best friend Kevin had a Pegasus and a Big Brute and my friend Bill had more RCs than I can imagine, he was into Tamiya mostly. We'd just set up crazy tracks and obstacles and make the monster trucks float in the creek haha! Well, today i picked up a CR-01 along with a Spektrum DX3.0 and Hitec 645MG servo at my LHS. Man, Tx and speed controls sure have changed! The Rx seems so tiny too! I also ordered up a Novak Rooster Crawler & charger and some odds and ends from Tower a few days ago. I wasnt sure of battery run times nowadays so i picked up two batteries, a 6 cell 3000mAh NiMh and a compact 6 cell Elite 1500mAh NiMh. There's something else, I dont remember batteries being NiMh, they were NiCd, 15-20 minutes and you were done!

I'm sure it will be pretty slow going as I get reaquainted with building and all the parts. Looking forward to diving in and building though! All the pics in this thread have been a real inspiration and the crawling aspect has really intrigued me, looks like a cool challenge. Already took pictures of the boxes of my new stuff, such a nerd! No need to post my build updates as you guys got that covered, good tips too!
