RE: The Official Traxxas Slash short-course race truck
Anyone notice how whenever Traxxas has a slower vehicle the video of it is constantly in slow-mo?
Thought that was a little funny.

The slow-mo seems to be their trademark. Even the VXL vids have some slow-mo. And I think the concept v-twin Emaxx vid had some slow mo. Now that i think about it I think theres slow-mo shots in every vid they put out.

Yeah should be out on the 22nd.
I like it cause they used there waterproof stuff in it. And its different from the usual traxxas RTR.

I'm not buying this. Losi and Associated are coming out with some in the next couple of months....I'll wait..
This truck is nice, but the corr 2 thundertech truck is better looking for the same price tag.

if it is priced at $180, thats totally worth it for the waterproof parts, better looking chassis layout and steel tranny.
id buy it and slap the body from my rusty on it, then sell the body for $15.

And the losi 1 has less inovation in it. All they did was throw some more parts on the XXX-T chassis. At least traxxas made a new chassis for there truck.

RE: The Official Traxxas Slash short-course race truck
Well I like that we have off-road race trucks now that finally have a real resemblance to their full size counterpart. For the most part the MT''s looked like MT''s, but the R/C stadium trucks looked nothing like a full size race truck.
From the Traxxas video''s it is difficult to tell how well these things actually drive. Hopefully these things can be designed so drivability is not sacrificed too much for the scale appearance. If these things are still able to handle something at least between a Ruster and a Pede than I think they''ll fair pretty well. If these things roll and tumble much than they may not catch on with racers.
Really a good move for Traxxas though. CORR will be broadcast this summer on NBC. People who aren''t into this hobby yet that watch CORR are more likely to pick one of these over a Rustler or Pede. Good chance I may have done this myself since I only really decided to check out off-road R/C due to my interest in CORR.
At this point the only track in my town just has enouch participants to run two small 1/10 electric mains, all in one class..and actually the 1/10 nitros also run in this class. Anyway I''m glad I have the regular although awkward-looking ST at least for now because I can be competive with a brushless setup. I''m sure these would run in this class if they showed up at our track. Trucks like this can really help introduce folks to the hobby.

I personally think that the idea of it is ingenious, but the body wheels and tires look cheap. The rusty VXL looks really cool with chrome wheels and an awesome bod, hopefully these things will be better that the rusty and i could just work around the minor stuff.

RE: The Official Traxxas Slash short-course race truck
I''m not a big Traxxas fan, but I think this is a step in the right direction for them. It''s been unveiled less than a day and already people are crying about how it''s just a new body on a Rustleranyone who thinks that needs to actually LOOK at it. Only parts that look like direct carryover to me are the transmission, motor, and suspension arms. The chassis plate is all new, the bumpers and braces are new, the shock towers and body mounts are new, the radio box and battery strap are new, as are the tires and rims. Hex hardware, full bearings, all-steel transmissiongood specs. Need I go on? The most important part to me is that the wheels are actually inside the wheel wells as they should be. It''s not perfect scale, but MUCH more realistic looking than the Losi competitor.

I couldn''t see some of the pictures posted here due to network restrictions but was finally able to see the comparison to the Rusty. That''s a big body! In a way I''m pretty much surprized that this vehicle is only just coming out now. Definately looks like it would be a pretty cool truck to run.
Now seems like this truck is setup for aggressive trading paint type of driving...just like CORR. Nerf bars on the sides of the Chassis! I''m sure that kind of activity would still be discouraged at the racetrack though. Currently r/c off road is open-wheeled racing. These trucks can provide true door-to-door excitement. It should prove interesting to see where this goes.

The one losi released is retarded, Traxxas nailed it, They didnt go overboard like thundertech, and they didnt cheat us like losi. Perfect truck, I will be buying 2 of them. My friends and i already had a get together for some drinks and to design a track. This truck will do close to what the t-maxx did when it was released.

Everybody is saying that Losi copied the XXX-T AGAIN and back up Traxxas saying that they waterproffed the servos and designed a new chassis. Well, did you forget about how Losi made a WHOLE NEW ESC and motor, along with functing LCD lights, chrome wheels and awesome design, and a new suspension setup. Whatever Losi brings up, everybody is saying that WOW, they waterproffed the servos, designed a new chassis, and got a new body. Losi did ALOT more things and we are still accusing them of needing to be more innovative.
TRAXXAS, you NEED to get rid of that Titan 12t and XL-5 ESC. That was my side of how everyone was bashing Losi but nobody was bashing Traxxas cause they copied Losi.
