it doesn't have to be. There is no tranny.

The only gearing there is is inside the diffs.

probably reaches 40+
Most likely 50.

You are correct on this. 99% of the time I drive on the pavement and in the grass do to not having dirt where I live. I once in awhile drive in woodchips and sand but thats not often. If you guys havent noticed i am a clean freak when it comes to r/c's. If its dirty I clean it up asap to the best it can look.

Chippythekid, sorry, but that rustler isn't a beater..... its only got 1 durability upgrade, and it may be beat up, but its not a beater truck. Get some RPM arms for it, then you can call it a tough beater truck.

Haha. I'll get some when them stock suckers snap(not sure if they ever will lol). And idk if you can tell in those pics but the bumper is missing chunks here and there and the bottom looks like sumone took 50 grit sand paper to it. And no there are not any other durablitly ups, but when sumthin breaks it will be upgraded, but until such time the stock stuff is pretty beefy.

just go brushless and see what happens.

I bash just like takedown. Mostly in grass and street. Just my yard and stuff, so my truck never really gets dirty. But i occasionally drive on a baseball diamond and stuff but then i just drive on pavement and all the dirt blows off. There is dirt caked on the under side of my body though from shock oil and dirt lol

Heres my newest addition to the beater family. Custom E-maxx with a 50-55 600kv outrunner in direct drive setup to eliminate the tranny on 4s lipo along with a modded Hydra 120a CC esc...
That looks great Takedown...Like always. LOL

Heres a few of mine. Its pretty nice at the moment. I have some old worn out dirt hawgs that im using lol they work great and i seem to have found the sweet spot on my motor . It doesnt have as much speed with the talonz but the dirt hawgs seem to be like a rocket with 40 mph wheelie. I dont use swami bars, they are to expensive for what you get. I would just bend the sucker anyways lol
Some associated trucks are tough. My friend has a gt2 and i dont like it that much but the stock arms are stronger than the rpm ones. We have jumped it over 70 feet and nothing broke landing upside down.
I now have 2s lipo for it.
So how is your "spark bar" working?

it works great, I landed on it the other day off of a 4 foot jump and nothing bent or broke. I was impressed. I only have one bar left though.

Default RE: The Beater Builds Thread

Today my orders from RC-monster and Towerhobbies came ( RC-monster: FLM front E-maxx skidplate, FLM rear E-maxx skidplate, FLM front E-maxx bulkhead, FLM front Rustler VXL skidplate) ( Towerhobbies: RPM chrome front E-maxx bumper, Integy blue aluminum front bumper/skidplate for Rustler VXL) It only took about 1 hour and a half to take apart the whole front of the E-maxx, and another 1-2 hours to put on the FLM skidplates and FLM bulkhead, it was not an easy task, but not only does the FLM look great but it is now great protection for my truck. Also for the Rustler VXL, I know that the FLM skidplate/front bumper is backwards, and also the Integy skidplate/front bumper is not supposed to be with the FLM, but where the FLM is it actually has a small lip so when you land hard the lip catches the truck so it does not bottom out, so the whole front of the Rustler is pretty durable now I'd say, same goes for the E-maxx.

I know the RPM bumper is upside down Chris, I need it like that, and I purposely put the FLM skid on the Rustler like that for a reason.

I put it like that on purpose, I need the bigger part on top in front of the body, the smaller part can go down in front of the skidplate, there really isnt an upside down-rightside up way, who cares.

Yeah thanks, they do look good, and I doubt I will bend FLM skids, but if by some rare chance I do bend them, there is a lifetime warranty, so it's all good.

The rpm bumper helps a lot not to bend them.

Yeah. that's why I ordered 'em together, because that POS stock bumper snapped at one side and I couldnt screw it in anymore, and it was so pliable, RPM is awesome, it's just plastic but like 1,000x tougher than the stock E-maxx bumper, I heard that Integy aluminum is not so good, but my dad likes it and it's pretty durable so far, we had a bash earlier, and nothing broke (for once) lol
