Tamiya 1/10 Sand Scorcher Re-release!
Just stumbled upon this on their website, definitely something I'll be picking up when it comes out.
Sorry if it's old news

Tamiya is celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Sand Scorcher with an improved re-release of the model. The new improvements include more fine tuned parts. Just as the original, the updated Sand Scorcher features ribbed front tires and paddle rear tires. Since the Sand Scorcher and the Buggy Champ use the same chassis, the spare parts are interchangeable.
Specs & Features
# This is an Officially Licensed 1/10 scale R/C assembly kit of the Sand Scorcher.
# Comes equipped with full ball bearings to reduce friction loss.
# Type 540 motor included.
# Comes loaded with many top quality parts for improved performance such as:
* A duraluminum plate reinforced 2mm thick FRP main frame for added strength and flexibility to ensure stability.
* Newly designed die-cast front and rear suspension arms, front axle, and wheel hubs.
* Transparent case protects the R/C mechanisms. The lid can be easily detached by cam locks.
* Reinforced front uprights.
* Redesigned oil dampers.
# Original blister pack style packaging.
# Detailed hard plastic body included.
# 2-channel R/C system and battery pack separately available.
# Can be used with separately available LF1100-6.6V Racing Pack (Item 55105).
# ESC Included

RE: Tamiya 1/10 Sand Scorcher Re-release!
There are a lot of Tamiya "kids" here. I quote kids because Tamiya is the reason why a lot of us got into RC cars in the first place be it wanting one as a kid or having one as a kid. That said I LOVE this car! Hands down my favorite model released by them and I am glad to be able to finally own one.

This is indeed good news! Now the overpiced Sand scorchers selling at "the bay" will be selling for less. At least now this re-release will be make the classic buggy more affordable.

great tell me this after i ve just dumped a grand into my scorcher restoration. In all honesty, I still consider the scorcher the holy grail of rc collections. I didnt get the hype till I completed mine and drove it for the first time.

That is so cool. I am a Tamiya kid too, old codga now. Remember the Rough Rider and the Super champ or the little 380 powered Subi brat? Indeed Tamiya were responsible for my entry into the world of r/c cars.
I still have my early ninties Tamiya catalogues and radio controlled guide books with the you beaut pics and info. Not only awesome art work and photography, the guide book had entire chapters on car care, how to drive, preperation, just about everything you needed to know!
Sadly lacking in todays world of: "Which motor for my car or I blew this up and now this product is garbage society eh."
GO TAMIYA.

Must be a Tamiya thing? Light weight, lipo, the fit, but saying that, I am unsure too looking at the battery link.
Mate, my original Tamiya Wild Willy had a ni-cad hump pack that fit around the Willy's body at the back. Dad and I must have re-charged that sucker over 500 times off the Mazda 1300 battery in the field. Days of ceramic resistors that burnt my little fingers.
Regards

Holy modem-burner Batman!
What is the point of a pic so big I have to scroll all over the place just to see it?
I'm not even running a low resolution, 1440 x 900.
You should resize it to 800x600 or something...

Much better, thanks skinned. Hehehe
I have to say, I like it much better than the Buggy Champ. Luckily, I'm young enough that this predates my RC awareness. I don't have any sentimental attachment to these old cast metal ones like you geezers do.
