Default I need help with my HPI E-FIRESTORM

I have a HPI E-Firestorm 10T RTR 1/10 Electric Truck 2 WD. I would charge my batters and put in the and it would run slow. So I got 2 new batters and the same thang. I thought my charger was bad put I tested it and it looks like it is working. The charger is about 1 year old it is a Piranha Digital peak charger. The first batters is a venom 1800 nicd 7.2 that is about 1year old charged about 35 times. The setting for the chargerI have is nicd 1800mah 3.0 A 10mV/C. The other batters are venom 3000 nimh 7.2 charged 1 time. The charger setting for it is nimh 3000mAh 3.0 A 10m V/C.When I run the car with antenna up not touching anything it will go about 15 feet then it starts jerking and stops. What do you thank it can be? Thanks

how slow are you talking?

also you say the truck is moving by itself without touching anything? First thing I would make sure of is that your throttle trim is set properly. The truck shouldn't move when you turn it on and aren't touching anything.

check the throttle settings on the radio, check the battery's in the radio.  check and maybe re-program the ESC, check the battery connector on the ESC.  clean the motor and check the brushes, make sure they are not hung up or damaged and that they are making good contact with the arm inside the motor

so your throttle trim is set correctly and the esc setup proper? is your radio antenna all the way up and not damaged, as well as your receiver antenna?

esc is the speed control. for the receiver antenna, just look for any cracks or tears. also is the receiver antenna (wire) pulled all the way up it's sleeve and hanging out the end a few inches?

im betting you've got a brush that's hung up and probably arcing.  iv had that cause short range and "glitching" issues in the past

i don't believe the stock motor in that truck is rebuildable

may need a new motor if everything else checks out. Also might be worth reseating the crystal in the receiver and make sure it's sitting snug.

if his charger and 1800 nicd are about a year old, im betting the truck is about a year old.  might be time to replace that motor

The truck is about 1 year. It is all stock. How would I test the motor with a tester?

its not, also your batteries since they're old and haven't been run, run them a few times, and see if they wake up it should take a few cycles, it happened to me today i want to FL for vaca for a week or so, came back charged up my ep 4200 and had pretty similar preformance, then came in charged it up again, when back out same setup, and it ran great

the lug

When you are charging your new nimhs, they should be warm when fully charged. It is possible your peak charger is sensing an early peak and shutting off prematurely. It used to happen to me with new nimhs. It is possible your new nimhs aren't fully awake yet.

Did you get much use out of the truck before this started happening? If so, it is quite possible the motor is worn out.

a little bit, but should turn very easily. No real way to test that motor as far as I know. But may be worth getting a new motor.

You say you went through water? I hope the esc or the receiver didn't get wet. That could be your problem right there.

Sounds like the motor. Carefully touch the motor leads to the battery. Do not let the leads touch each other. The motor should spin fast and make a smooth whining sound. If it sounds rough or glitchy it is worn out. they are $14 at Tower Hobbies. That is real cheap for a motor. Sounds like you got its life out of it at 20 runs. Be sure to break in new motors for longer life.
