Question for you r40 owners. has anyone had an issue with the side belts coming off? i have lost about 3 of them even with the belt tensioner is as tight as could be.

no, but ive heard others complain about this. go back through the instructions, and make sure all of your pulleys are installed correctly.

Rotate the wheels and see if one of the belt shafts are bent. A good impact could bend one, and then it would throw belts alot...

Jay.....none of those exhaust headers that you showed will work for the R40. He needs a rear exhaust engine with a rear exhaust header like this one.

In a way you're right, but in his situation, his wasp engine is not a round tip exhaust port, it's a rectangular type, so your header wouldn't work either, no offense, but in his situation, it could be pretty hard to find the right header

I've never seen a rectangular port rear exhaust engine. If you've found one I'd like to see it

well, no offense dude, but you're forgetting that his engine is a side exhaust so the port is rectangular, here look at it

although you might not see it well, but it says it

That being said........that engine WILL NOT work in an R40....I own an R40 and had to send the Fantom FR.12R engine back because it didnt fit properly. I ended up going for the sirio .12 EVO II. The R40 is kind of picky in what engine will fit in it.

hey, would a .12 team orion side exhaust engine fit into an r-40, im thinking about buying an r-40 and putting it in. Will it work?

ORIGINAL: mtl racer

why not ?...all you need is a rear exhaust header and make sre your engine is pilot type crank
You're correct there in the point that you need a rear exhaust header. But they call it a "rear exhaust" header because it's for a rear exhaust engine. By the way...the R40 accepts standard and pilot type crank shafts. They send you these 2 adapters so you have a choice.

The RB engines are top of the line and all around awesome engines. These guys sell every model of RB engines you'd want....although I'm not sure on the International shipping. You might have to give them call to find out. http://acehardwarehobbies.com/2.2/ca...46_147_149_279

A .15 engine has the same mounting dimensions as a .12. So it should work unless you buy a "big-block" .15 such as the CEN .15.

First off all the fusion .21 isnt ROAR legal so it cant be considered the "best"...ANd its stacks up great considering it has 2 back to back wins In ROAR 2003 2004 championships

There's a touring car magazine, with a great review of several of the nitro touring race kits. The R40 had the 3rd fastest lap overall. The fastest was the Kyosho: 11.148 then the Serpant: 11.674, and a very close 3rd, R40: 11.677 Very impressive considering the cost difference between these 3 cars: Kyosho FW-05R $389; Serpant 710 $390; HPI R40 $270

Saved about 350$ to spend on either a another car or hop ups my own. I want my brother to own a "less expensive one" so i at least can have some fun off the track

also in japan they got LOADS of hop ups for the r40. Sheesh 1 way rear diff, a lighter upper deck, graphite a arms and other support arms, alum upper deck mounts, lighter EVERYTHING, and a lot more where that came from. Just think those graphite arms cheaper than alum ones yet stiffer and lighter. its like 10$ for a set of a arms. They should focus a little bit more on getting this stuff over here. [sm=angry.gif] is there an american company that creates cars? I wonder all i know is that most of em are from europe and asia.

A fellow racer had an RB, 1 of 2-3 that race at our track. I can't remember wich version it was, but it was a really strong runner. It ran fast and cool, I nearly bought one. I decided to wait, but I'm still interested...
