RE: the OFFICIAL R-40 thread !
Question for you r40 owners. has anyone had an issue with the side belts coming off? i have lost about 3 of them even with the belt tensioner is as tight as could be.

no, but ive heard others complain about this. go back through the instructions, and make sure all of your pulleys are installed correctly.

Rotate the wheels and see if one of the belt shafts are bent. A good impact could bend one, and then it would throw belts alot...

RE: the OFFICIAL R-40 thread !
Jay.....none of those exhaust headers that you showed will work for the R40. He needs a rear exhaust engine with a rear exhaust header like this one.

In a way you're right, but in his situation, his wasp engine is not a round tip exhaust port, it's a rectangular type, so your header wouldn't work either, no offense, but in his situation, it could be pretty hard to find the right header

RE: the OFFICIAL R-40 thread !
well, no offense dude, but you're forgetting that his engine is a side exhaust so the port is rectangular, here look at it

although you might not see it well, but it says it

RE: the OFFICIAL R-40 thread !
That being said........that engine WILL NOT work in an R40....I own an R40 and had to send the Fantom FR.12R engine back because it didnt fit properly. I ended up going for the sirio .12 EVO II. The R40 is kind of picky in what engine will fit in it.

The RB engines are top of the line and all around awesome engines. These guys sell every model of RB engines you'd want....although I'm not sure on the International shipping. You might have to give them call to find out. http://acehardwarehobbies.com/2.2/ca...46_147_149_279

RE: the OFFICIAL R-40 thread !
There's a touring car magazine, with a great review of several of the nitro touring race kits. The R40 had the 3rd fastest lap overall. The fastest was the Kyosho: 11.148 then the Serpant: 11.674, and a very close 3rd, R40: 11.677 Very impressive considering the cost difference between these 3 cars: Kyosho FW-05R $389; Serpant 710 $390; HPI R40 $270

Saved about 350$ to spend on either a another car or hop ups my own. I want my brother to own a "less expensive one" so i at least can have some fun off the track

RE: the OFFICIAL R-40 thread !
also in japan they got LOADS of hop ups for the r40. Sheesh 1 way rear diff, a lighter upper deck, graphite a arms and other support arms, alum upper deck mounts, lighter EVERYTHING, and a lot more where that came from. Just think those graphite arms cheaper than alum ones yet stiffer and lighter. its like 10$ for a set of a arms. They should focus a little bit more on getting this stuff over here. [sm=angry.gif] is there an american company that creates cars? I wonder all i know is that most of em are from europe and asia.

RE: the OFFICIAL R-40 thread !
A fellow racer had an RB, 1 of 2-3 that race at our track. I can't remember wich version it was, but it was a really strong runner. It ran fast and cool, I nearly bought one. I decided to wait, but I'm still interested...
