Hey, question. after four years of RC, and 2 cars, i'm just now understanding the importance of good handling. and after marveling at my TA05, i'm wondering is there anything i can do to the tt01 to improve handling?
Get rid of play? (probably with spacers)
racing steering set? (seriiously wondering if that does anything????)

even though i'm planning on drifting, anyway....

I had the same thing happen after about a month. I got the Tamiya spur gear set and Robinson Racing harden steel pinion gears (use the metric mod .6 [link]http://www.robinsonracing.com/catalog/catalog.html[/link]), and I haven't had a problem since.

sadly their isn't much you can do gunderman other than installing oil shocks, spool diff, ball diff, alloy steering kit the tamiya onenot aftermarket), and steering turnbuckle tierod set. Make sure you have ballbearings,alloy prop shaft and joints, CVD's and a metal motor mount so your drivetrain is stronger.

But really you can not ever make a tt01 better than a ta05 even if you have every upgrade imgainable.

how come te df02 drivetrain is so much tougher even when it is the same drivetrain except the diff and bevel gears are metal? I've yet to strip a spur since i have had my df02 and no signs of wear on the pinion, spur or shaved metal or plastic at the bottom of the gear box.

Anyway in a month or two i am building a tt01e out of spares and i will put a build thread up

nice tt01 rule werks, The GT3 body has been my most favourite body for my tt01e ever since.
i like how you used red instead of blue because everyone has blue. All you need is a red heatsink and carbon upper deck and to makea tierod connecting the servo horn to the steering link.

I want to try an HK 401 gyro in my TT01E drifter. Was wanting to know if anyone has had any luck in using a heli gyro as a d-box.

well seems there is a slight sizing difference in the DF-02 metal bevel gear, and the TT01 plastic one. The DF-02's has a larger ring to push it farther out. I had to grind it down like 1mm to make it fit. Other than that the big metal gear that screws to the diff casing is perfect.

I should be able to get a pic soon of my TT01 seeing its just about done just waiting for one part to come in the mail

have you checked for play in the metal gears? Don't want to strip something.

there is no play, checked carefully to make sure there was no slipping also.
just they were too tight originally due to a larger offset I ground it down the the exact size of the plastics so it fits perfect

The gears I used as a test fit were from my bootleg DF-02 which I'm guessing the manufacturer used the TT01's gear to make the mold for it seeing I remember looking to make sure they were the same size.

cool. I realised when using a lock diff you strip spur gears quicker.

is the rear diff locked on your TB03 too? same prblem? i have been stripping spur gears/pinions more lately and i just popped in a locked diff.
might be the answer.

I am sold its the lock diff as it doesn't allow the gear to slip when a force act against the wheel (eg. a crash). So the counter gear wants to stop but the bevel wants to keepspinning causing the gears to crunch. The spur is also prone and rear diff gears as the stress is applied to them too.

Its a shame i really like the handling its given to my car but ever since i put it in, i have been going through spur, bevel and counter gears like mad (same in my tt01e).

So i have to get a spec-r gear diffand pack it with the thickest lube i can find to have some spoolish effect.

tto1's come with alluminum pinions

df02's comw with hardened steel pinions. so no metal comes off the pinion while running causing the pinion and spur to wear like the tt-01 does.



to stop this just get the tamiya df-02 stock pinion if you can find one, its 19t so should be fine.

So I know that this tread is farely old but, so is my TT01 . lol
i have a few more upgrades to my TT01.Ihave some alloybrake discwith matching calipers, but I havenot got theminstalled correctly.I want to lost some wait on my car,so I am in the process of doing that. I clocked my TT01 doing about a good 50 mph with the corrent setup, but I want to go faster so I got a 6tBrush motor dirt cheap called the orion Revolution 6x1 black can. it looks really nice but is itfaster than my 9x1 that i have already inthe car hmmm.Ihope to have some pics upthis week.

do you know what a one-way clutch does? Its gives more steering by changing between 4wd on power to 2wd off power. It has 2wd braking which isn't very good but the steering greatly increases. Good for carpet tracks or fast flowing tracks, not great for high speed tracks requiring heavy braking. Not good for bashing.

Just installed headlights that are controlled from channel 3
Dunno why the blue came out so light but in person the blue is dark neon blue.
2nd pic is what I based the paint job off of. I just don't like yellow

I believe some states do. They aren't very common. I think they are just used for highway patrol. I remember seeing a WRX police car once years ago.
