Hello gazza111,
I don't know how long you have been flying but, You know, I was never able to TR on a sim at all, trying to learn it, so I had sold my G2 Sim. a few years ago. But, I never gave up trying to do them with the model planes. This had gone on for over maybe 5 yrs. My nephew, whom I taught how to fly at age 12, lived on the his sim. night and day and he progressed so fast, he learned flying and is now an excellent flyer and 3D pilot with 40% planes. The sim works. But again, I just kept trying with the plane. This past fall, I have finally gotten the plane to TR by not over contolling the planes and not giving up. Now that winter has arrived, I purchased the AFP SIM as I read so many good thing about it. As soon as I loaded it up and got it going, I was able to TR the sim right out of the box using the Extra 330 from the add on program. IT was what seemed to be so natural to TR.
I quess what I am trying to say is, Give the sim a chance, Fly the plane with no mods other then moving the CG back 1", but I found that that make it a little unstable. At least for me. I worked in small steps to over come different things mentally trying to TR, the major one was I kept stopping the TR with an AIL. correction, because it was not natural for me to let the plane rotate. But time was what it took, and for how realistic this sim works, I can't see how you could not learn. Just be patient. It is not going to happen over night. A friend of mine had told me that if I wanted to learn how to TR, all it would cost was $100 worth of gas and lots of practice. Well he was right, but instead of using the plane where your mistakes can cost you, use the sim for those costly mistakes. You will start to get it. I saw my nephew learn through this process, but I just wasn't into the sims at that time
One thing I must say, is I am impressed how real this AFP Sim seems to feel using my own TX. I almost feel like I am flying my plane. Not bad.

Do this:
after pointing the plane up:
1. you'll have to keep tapping the elev. up - little bit at a time to keep the nose attitude pointing up.
2. at the same time burping the throttle to keep the plane from falling, or climbing
3. kicking the rudder to keep the nose straight...when the plane's belly is toward you...add rudder to lower wing to keep the plane straight.
4. most importantly is to make small adjustments, constantly...think of your elev, and rudder control as if you have gyros hooked to them. Don't forget to get the throttle going also. Don't expect to set the throttle at one place and the plane would stay there...you'll have to massage it to keep it there.
5. I know this sound like tapping your head, while rubbing your belling kind of act but practice, practice, practice...I got it in one night...so can you!

What I have found on AFP is that the plane seems to be flying in slow motion, it is specially noticable in torque roll, seems that you have way too much time to make corrections. Comparing AFP to flying my Ultra Stick with a Saito 180 in at the flying field I have to be much quicker (at the field) putting in corrections or the plane drops out of hover or torque roll.
I have set the simulator speed to 174% to get something close to what seems normal compared to flying at the field, wonder if others have noticed this?
My computer is 1.7 Gig clock and has a good graphics board so I don't think it is the computer.
The only thing I have not explored is "frame rate", I don't know what effect it has.

I don't know if this thread is still going, but I thought I would try to ask the question here since it is relevant. When I am hovering in AFP it takes full aileron for me to keep the plane from Torque Rolling...I am mostly flying the Extra 330S. I saw on a video from AeroFlyPro.Com (Maarteen de Moor with the Extra330S) had the ailerons deflected fully to hold the plane from torque rolling.
Anyone else experience this? I am just building my first giant scale, so I don't know, do the real large scale planes really have as much torque as the sim models do (settings like 40%)? I am assuming so since the Extra330S was set up by the TOC pilot who competes with it.
Thanks for your help.

Try going to "edit aircraft" and under engine increase the % torque up to around 90%.That will make ur aircraft spin really fast.It will be a handfull trust me.
