Throttle does not work on helli's On AFP
I seem to be having problems with the throttle on helicopters.
The throttle is full all the time only the pitch has any effect.
Throttle hold works ok.
Has any one else had the same problem?
Throttle is on channel 3
Pitch is on channel 6
I have set up my radio, on an old Field Force 7 as follows:
Throttle and pitch 0 to 100 and then calibrated AFP.
The throttle bar & pitch bar move accordingly from 0 to 100 %
Confirming that calibration and that the transmitter function is ok.
When flying I have found that the throttle pitch curve has no effect what so ever, you can set throttle 0.0.0.0.0 if you wish to, you just get a constant head speed.
That’s ok for 3d flying but not very realistic for normal flying making the helli’s very sensitive round the hover position and for landing. You can off course adjust the pitch to reduce the sensitivity.
I would like to know is this programmed this way or is this a bug.
I am using the latest down loaded version from the AFP site.
Throttle works fine with aeroplanes.
The plane side of the program is fantastic, so I am hoping that I have something wrong rather than the heli program just being set for a constant head speed.
Regards
Neil

RE: Throttle does not work on helli's On AFP
You need to assign a channel for your auto-rotation. It is probably defaulted to auto-rotate. You need to disengage it.
That is the problem!
Your throttle curves will work the way you have them setup on your radio.

Thanks for reply
I have set chanel 5 for Auto Rotate (i presume you mean throttle hold)
When switched the throttle will reduce to low.
Still the same for the rest.

Problem solved
found out by trial and error.
You need to set engine/autorotation to throttle channel.
Instruction manual not very clear as it says you must have a spare channel set for autorotation.

to use the auto you must have another channel like 5 in use. otherwise when you close the throttle the engine will close, then as you come into land and want to flair out the engine will again kick in meaning you are not autoing.

Not meaning to contradict you I think you are wrong.
This is how my set up works with engine / autorotation set to throttle channel 3(engine).
This is the reply when asked the question from AFP chief programmer:-
Dear Neil,
Did you use the EXPERT settings or the EASY SETTINGS?
To set up your radio with aerofly pro?
Independent throttle and pitch only works in EXPERT setting!
In EXPERT setting check if the MOTOR channel for the helicopter
(Not the MOTOR 1 to 4 for the airplane!) move correctly if you
move your channel 3.

Torsten Hans

there is NO WAY you can auto properly with how you have that setup. i don't care if the guy who told you that was a nasa engineer. HE IS WRONG.
how can you control the pitch when you are autoing if when you go to flair out the throttle will rise aswell. this is NOT how to do it.
as i've said before put the auto onto channel 5, leave the throttle on 3. now when you want to auto. flick the channel 5 switch. easy.
cheers
