Default AFP controller help!!!

I just bought AFP and have tried to run it with little success. Problem being when I load the game it says it can't find the controller. I have tried the controller in both ports and have set it as as per the manual.
Please help. What do I need to do?

Ed, did you plug in the 9-pin serial interface cable into a free serial port (COM port) as well? it is always required even if you use the game commander. The other end of the serial interface cable is a stereo jack. Just leave it alone. You could plug this into your own Tx with the proper adapter if you choose to use your Tx instead of the game commander later.

Additionally, pls ensure that there are no other programs running in the background. Cheers !

You the man Rajul. That was the problem
Now, I tried to fly the raptor and it would just get off the ground at full throttle, the planes also seam to be not getting full power. I tried adjusting the travel but it didn't seam to make any difference.
Any idea's??

I believe it's your simulation speed. In the flying mode, go to file---->general option------>simulation speed. Increase that speed to what you're comfortable with depending on your skill level. Let me know how that works for you.

Also make sure when you calibrate you leave your sticks in neutral before you calibrate. Then when you calibrate make sure you see full movement on the red bars.

Thanks guys. I am experienced in flying so I have it set to 100% speed.
When I did the calibration the red bars don't go all the way to the end. Can I adjust this?

Ed, you can adjust your throws in the controls menu. Which Tx do you have ? Why not try using your own Tx instead of the game controller, especially if you have a computer radio ?

Thanks Rajul. I have got it working correctly. I have a PCM 9X which I will use but just for now I wanted to get the normal controller working.
