Wingster and tahustvedt, Thanks for the replies. Could you please list your system specs.

Here are mine:

Pentium System: Windows Me (4.90, Build 3000)
Processor: Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 1800MHz
Memory: 384MB RAM
DX Version: DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904)
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce3

It was good 3 years ago. It's still good enough to run Aerofly Pro.

Oh, and I don't fly choppers, so I can't comment on how good XTR is for them. All I know is there is flaw in the algorithm for fixed wings on my system.

I also may have some of the video options set differntly (vsync, for example?) That didn't seem to make a difference either way I set it.

Wind junkie

I have a brand new system.

Windows XP, Intel Pent 4 @3.0GHz

1000 MB of Ram

Radeon X300 Video Card, PCI Express x 16

I don't think its the computer. I couldn't get the Kantana Sylvestri to snap. I turned down the damping numbers(Actually turning up the parameter I think) located under physical parameters and the speed/thrust reduction under "drive". This seems to have reduced the problem. The plane now flies faster and snaps better. I don't think you would notice the reduced control rate vs. distance problem on a 3D foamie model like Tuhasvedt mentioned.

What airplane are you flying?

I'm flying the Yellow Katana also. It's stock except I added a bit more rudder authority and upped the roll rate by 30% if I remember correctly.

The KE stinks, but then again, I assume the real thing does also since the 40 and 90 size Funtanas don't KE well, so I guess that's not bad (accurate sim of the model). KE coupling is good, but there isn't much side area, so full power does almost nothing for KE climbouts -- just like the smaller funtanas. I've seen bigger Katanas do sustained KE so I guess it can be done, but I don't know what it takes to hold it there.

Up close, I can live with it for hovering and most aerobatics. The thing I hated worst was the rolls slowing down far away, and also other control inputs would lag. Sometimes throttle would seem to get "stuck" and just when I needed a quick blast of throttle and full elevator travel to jerk the tail around ( say, like in a waterfall close to the deck -- but yet far away) the plane wouldn't respond right away, but then when it did, the plane would be over-rotated, and I'd get the throttle at the wrong time so I'd rocket right into the ground nose first. It was funny until I realized I wan't really in control anymore.

I didn't think it was a system config thing either, but I really wanted a second confirmation on that.

Thanks very much for your responses.

Try adjusting the speed/thrust factor down. The plane will fly faster and you will be able to do knife edge loops.

You might also try adjusting some of the profile parameters.

Wingster and tahustvedt, Thanks for the replies. Could you please list your system specs.

HT-computer:

OS: Windows XP PRO SP1
CPU: AMD AthlonXP 3200+ (overclocked slightly)
RAM: 512 MB DDR PC3200
Video: ATI Radeon X800 XT VIVO

Workshop-computer:

OS: Windows XP PRO SP1
CPU: AMD AthlonXP 2500+ (overclocked slightly)
RAM: 1024 MB DDR PC3200
Video: ATI Radeon 9700 PRO

I get very high fps on both systems. 120-500+ depending on which aircraft I choose. I have set v-sync ON.

Perhaps it's a performance issue after all.

Wingster,
Although you have a modern system the graphics car isn't a very fast one so if it's a problem with system performance then that might explain it. Just a thought.

Tahustvedt

Did you try flying one of the Kantantas rather then a 3D foamie. I tried one of the foamies and did not notice the problem of slower airplane response with distance. The airplane control response on the Kantanas is slow, whereas the foamies is very fast. The problem might not be as noticeable with the quick response planes.

Like I said, I tried it with the Katana Hulk as well. I can try again later today.

Thanks, I had originally missed your comments on the Kantana Hulk.

Hi guys,
Just got my Reflex XTR on Friday. Level of simulation, graphics of scenery, details of models fantastic. Only I can not go with models engines idling low enugh to land without adjusting as high as Beaufort 3 head wind. From JR Tx no enugh adjustment.
Thanks
Robert

I flew the Katana for a couple of hours yesterday with a friend of mine. Great fun! Great sim!

I made several passes in different directions and further and further away from the camera but I could not see any change in rollrate what so ever.

I had the same problem with my Simprop Tx untill I pushed the "Help" -button in the "Assign Channels" -window. It turns out that when you follow the instructions for assigning channels it's both easier and quicker, and you get it to work right! Strange, isn't it?![sm=biggrin.gif]

Hi guys,
I noticed that occassionally the natural scenry moves in a choppie manner. First view days after installation was always smooth. Does not matter how far the plane is.
Never happens with Reflex artficial airfield scenery. Should I reinstall XTR again?

Im looking to buy a flight sim and it seems that MRC Reflex and the new Aerofly Professional Deluxe are the best out there. I see that they both support photo-realistic scenery and both have been spoken highly of in forums. As I am in South Africa I only get one chance to order the product, because it takes weeks to arrive and I cant just take it back to the shop (in the USA) [&o] Can anyone compare the two products? Thanks

I just got hold of the Xtr.don't know if I'll continue on with it or not.One of my guestions.
Once you change the settings for one of the default planes,is there anyway you can revert back to the default settings. There seems to be alot of foolin with this sim to get the plane to fly the way you want.Hate those flight line boundries.
