G2 jets question
#1

Anyone out there that has flown a turbine model, is the throttle lag on the turbine models in the sim similar to real ones? Mine will be here in a week, but I am just wondering if its even close or not, are the turbine models on there similar to the real ones to fly???

I've never flown a turbine model but watched (and listened) to 2 fly in the past. I think all turbines have a degree of lag to 'spool' up. I worked on F-16 avionics and even the F100 in it exihibited this.
Given the degree of realism that Knifeedge tried to program into G2, I would say that it has to be close.
for what it's worth....

JohnVH,
I have the older Realflight and I increased the throttle lag on the simulator to more closely simulate the throttle lag in real life. You have to understand that the engine lag is different depending upon what RPM the engine is running at. For example if you are at idle it can take 5-7 seconds to reach full throttle RPM. (This is also dependant upon turbine brand, and engine) Now if you are at 1/2 throttle lag to full throttle may only be 1-2 seconds and it is not proportional. I think I have seen you post that you have just purchased a P-80 I am pretty sure that the JetCats spool up a little slower than some of the others. (This is just a comment and not a slam as I own a P-120, and several RAMS) you will very quickly become acustomed to the throttle lag and it will becom a non issue.
