Default Problems with AFPD Commander

I just received my AFPD with the Game Commander last week and am already having problems with it. When I go to fly a plane the controls are way off to the right or the left, you can trim it out and in a short amount of time they are way off again. It gets so bad that you end up trimmed all the way and still having to compensate heavily with the stick. It seems to get worse the more you fly. I have done the calibration over and over again and I have tried it on multiple computers with the same results. I have also applied the latest update from the website. Am I missing something? I hope I don't have to send this thing off already, I was so excited when I finally got it.

Please help..

Jim

Jim.
I am having the same problem and also what looks like the plane is getting "radio hits".

I have posted in this group and also sent a PM to STLPilot who I think supports AF products.

I haven't heard anything from him yet.

Breaker 1-9, this is rubber duck. I think we have a convoy! *

Now to band together and find some solution that doesn't involve being separated from our beloved $200 simulator for 3 months.

Jim,

have you sorted this thing out ? What you call game commander is the USB "Tx" sold with it ?
We do not have that many complaints here, so it may be a problem by your side ???
Which operating system do you guys use ? XP SP2 or sth else ??
I plan buying AFPD so please keep us posted.

thx !

If your Commander is losing calibration, call Ikarus and they will replace it.

No, they return the same Game Commander and had alleged that it did not have problem, and told me that I have just to do a more carefully calibrating,
Well, I did hundreds of calibratings after this, and in different ways, but the problem persists, I use simulators from a long time and I had never problems like these, also I have another radio(Futaba) with an interface serial(Game port) working without problem in the Aerofly Pro Deluxe.
I have shure, the defect is in the Game Commander, only they had not wanted to order a new one to me, and give this excuse of that there is no problem with it and let it go.
I really don´t know why, I really starting to think that they are running away from the responsibility with its customers, very bad attitude.

Well I don't know who you sent it too, but I've never heard of Ikarus USA sending back the same transmitter.

Well maybe this is the first time, who knows? One thing I know, I am not the only one with the same problem here, just take a look at this Forum, and with shure you will find other customers with the same problem. I just don´t recommend to anyone buy the AFPD with the game commander. And once more, The AFPD simulator it´s great, but the GC [sm=thumbdown.gif][sm=thumbdown.gif][sm=thumbdown.gif][sm=thumbdown.gif]

One has to be a bit mad to believe ikarus sells a non working controller. Probably this commander does not work well with some home end users pc configuration. The challenge is to find out what in our pc makes this controller suck that much. USB ports are known for irritating problems.

I'm not saying they did or did not send you the same commander, I just never heard that they did that. Yes, there have been problems with the commanders, but seems like anyone that has had a problem with it has been happy when replaced.

Also this is the only simulator support forum on RCU and there are thousands sold. Of course your going to see issues with AFP on these forums, but if you go to the Reflex official forums and G3 official support forums you'll see the same thing.

Did you get yours replaced from Ikarus USA in Florida?

FYI, I had the glitching problem with my game commander, and Ikarus was very responsive and after a few "software" fixes they had me try I sent it back and fairly quickly I got one in return. I assumed it was a new one, and not mine fixed, or just returned, but I didn't mark the unit, so I can't tell for sure, but the ratchet on the throttle had loosened up on my old one, and this transmitter is also loose. Definitely not proof it's the same one, but it got me thinking. Bottomline, this one has the same glitching problem, both when used on my desktop and laptop. I haven't gotten around to writing them again; I'm very busy and it's very hard for me to get around to this sort of thing. I'm sure they'll take care of it, but it sure is a pain. BTW, it is only my elevator channel that has the glitching, and only in the up direction. This was the same on my original transmitter and the "new" one too. Does anyone else that has this problem have the glitching on more than one channel or direction?

You will always need the Game Commander hooked up, but if you get the Sycom and use your own transmitter you can assign it as being your main control. It defaults to be the controller for a second player, but you can change that in the controller setup.

First off Ikarus does not support this forum. This is a support forum for aeroflypro.com. However we will support anyone that posts in these forums for any reason. Also we get plenty of help from other happy customers and loyal fans of AFPD. I also give Ikarus and IPACS as much feedback as I need to give them on a regular basis.

Now if you want support for your Commander the only way to get this is to call them direct at 239.690.0003. I know that they will take care of any customer that is having issues with their Interface or Commander.

I'm sorry for you guys that don't live in the USA, however you purchased from the USA and knowing that all warranties are handled through the USA. I would suggest that if you don't want to take chances ordering from the USA try to find a local hobby shop to buy from because they would be the ones responsible with warranty issues in most cases.

Either way ... you have the number and if you call it you WILL get taken care of.

Hi Dion,

I don't think anyone is holding you responsible for the problems with the Game Commander. Please don't take the complaints people are making personally. I have heard nothing but super things about your support and it is evident in this forum.....but, you can understand how people get confused with the title of this forum being "Ikarus AeroFly Pro and Aerofly Pro Deluxe Support Forum". I think that ought to be changed to "OMP AeroFly Pro and Aerofly Pro Deluxe Support Forum", or something else that clearly identifies the true nature of this forum. This might help the confusion and take some of the heat off of you. The way it is everyone puts all their complaints about AFP(D) in this forum, and that's no surprise. Even though you do a great job of trying to re-direct issues that are not yours, I think it is too much to ask of you to be doing this. It is obvious from some of your responses that you take these complaints personally, which is not fair to the users either. They have every right to complain about their problems in a forum named as it is, and expect to be taken care of without being made to feel guilty about their complaints.

I undestand about the nature of this forum, and I have taken my issue directly to Ikarus. I think if more people understood the true nature of this forum, they would be doing the same thing instead of documenting their complaints here.

Hi Dion, I have to agree with Bill, and my objective is just to do a movement in the AFPD community and call attention of Ikarus about problems with his product, in particular the Game Commander. It´s interesting that they see that exists a important Forum about his products as well the questions that concerns it simulators.
´Please, don´t bring this to a personal way, I am particular customer of OMP and never had problems with yours that do a really great job.

Regards,

Cássio.
