As far as I know, the Blade radio doesn't have a sim interface (DSC or student socket). Saw that heli on a trade show here and didn't find anything in the radio or in the manual.

I'm also looking for the best sim for practicing flying the E-Flite Blade.

I've had mine for a few days now and I'm already on my 3rd set of main blades, 2nd tail rotor blade, 2nd set of landing skids and 2nd canopy! Doh! hehe

Anyway, I'd rather smash a pixilated Blade, so if anyone knows which sim out there is the best, most realistic Blade CP sim please let us know.

As for the controller, my LHS called for me and the guy old him no, you can't use the one that comes with the Blade.

So I also need the best sim that comes with a controller.

E-Flite blade transmitter does have a trainer connector on the back. The problem with using it to control a flight simulator is that the PPM signal is already CCPM-ixed and this mix can't be turned of. As none of the existing simulators can work with the mixed signal (because a single channel input results in multiple servo movements), Horizon claims that E-flite Blade CP transmitter (same thing as ESky "Channels Six" CCPM transmitter) can't be used with simulators...

The best simulator, which can use a 3rd-paty interface, is AeroFly Pro Deluxe. Please be aware that AFPD still needs its original interface for copy protection, i.e. one can't just copy the CD to sell the sim and use the copy with another interface!

I hope you find this information helpful.

I was told the Reflex XTR by MRC is a good one. Any opinions on this?

Reflex XTR is considered by many to be the best sim for helicopters, but it can NOT be used with E-flite transmitter! Reflex doesn't support third-party interfaces and doesn't offer a CCPM "unmixing" interface for this transmitter...

Hi Guys,

I just recenlty purchased the Blade CP too. I've modified the G3 Watt Not electric heli to be CCPM and tweaked it to fly close to the Blade CP. It is still a work in progress, but I'll be glad to share it if you want it.

I'd LOVE to see it when you get it done. I have also purchased the Blade CP, and want to spend some time with a pixelated version, rahter than buy a butt-load of new rotor blades. I already have G3 installed, so loading a new aircraft will be easy. I'vew already mangled one rotor blade - new set will be ordered tomorrow. GRRRRR

I picked up Reflex XTR. Great program! A bit expensive though. Plus I had to purchase a used TX because it doesn't come with one and you can't use the one that came with the blade. The guy gave me a good deal on a broken JR XP662. It just has a messed up program switch that doesn't need to be repaired to work with the software. And he sold it to me for $20.

It's been a great help with practice. I can hover (most of the time) with the actual blade and I only have a 5' x 5' area in my home office to practice in.

I'm still practicing hovering facing the front of the heli using the simulator. Reflex has hover practice mode.

Also, I have a lot of trouble with controlled flight. Put simply, once I get moving I have no control over where the helicopter goes. I can keep it up in the air easy enough, but I need a lot of practice with flying it in the direction I want it to go and MOSTLY stopping it and hovering again. Once I get it moving even basic steering goes out the window.

I just wish I knew someone in my area I could get some tips from. The person that got me into the hobby has a Hirobo XRB, which is nothing like flying a CP single blade. His is Fixed Pitch with counter rotating blades. Hovering is as easy as throttling up. I'll have to talk to the guy at the hobby shop and see if there is a club around the area I can join.

Here is a cable for using your Blade TX in FMS.

I modified my own watt not to be a CP heli. Upgraded it to lipos too. I pretty much only fly in idle up mode now so I have it set to always be in idle up. I've tried to tame it down a bit and it's still a lot more capable than the blade but it's close enough to play around with.

So here's my version [link=http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showatt.php?attachmentid=664277]download here[/link]

Unzip both files to the planes directory.

It's a start at least.
