Hi r1derbike,

Great perspective on the to sims G3 and AFPD.
The one thing that bothered me about G3 was the lack of a Funtana, and a few other planes.
I contacted manufactures on both sides and the response always was that the other side had to provide.
Could be a spat, could be copywrite, could be just plane animosity against rivals.
Anyhoo, both sims have their good points, and of course there is Reflex XTR, and many others available out there.

Hope everyone has many things to be thankful for today, and everyday.

AFPD HAS ABOUT 6 Funtana'S IN THE 40 And 90 size plus a lot of other 3d planes that you can edit and make any of them fly any way you want. with AFPD all you have to is post what plane you would like to have and give the guys a little time to make it for you and it will show up in the free down load section for everybody to down load for free............everybody is different and we all want something different..........with any of the sim's you will learn how to fly better......this is getting real dumb......its like my ford is better than your chevy lol hehe........everybody have a very happy thanksgiving[8D]

I have both sims and flew them both yesterday so I could answer your questions better. Neither sim has a lot of coupling. I fly at 6000 ft so I have to add weight and frontal area to make planes fly like they do here. With AFPD all I have to do is speed up the sim. With Real Flight I have to change things with the set up of the plane. The sound of Real flight is more real than AFPD. AFPD has more planes to choose and download for free. The planes in AFPD seem to brake apart more real than real flight. For instance, if you land too hard with a lot of the AFPD planes you will brake off one or both gear. I like breaking one off on purpose and than landing with one wheel. I think I fly AFPD more than real flight but like them both. The only thing I don’t like about AFPD is the sound. Real Flight sounds good but I have to modify almost all of the planes to make them fly the way they fly at my field. I have been flying RC for 12 years and fly every thing from Cubs to Jets. Thanks George

I just got a G3 after owning a G2 for several years. It puts the G2 away in a lot of ways. The Photo Realistic background seems to be a huge help in giving a sense of depth perception. I'm sure the is more to it with the lighting and shadows but it all adds up.

Thanks. That was helpful. I would be looking for a sim were airplanes fly like they do in real life, right out of the box.

Multiplayer adds tremendous value to me.
I believe G3 is the only choice that includes multiplayer capabilities.
It's great to log on and see what maneuvers others are doing, for fun and for learning. There is a long "off-season" in my area.

Hi
I bought G3 and I hated it. I have been flying along time both fixed wing and heli and I started to think i couldnt fly worth a damn. Ther planes nor the heli felt right and I kept crashing, they felt sluggish and unresponsive.
For me I would give G3 the big thumbs down. Too many fancy nobs, too difficult to figure out straight forward changes to a plane. The spent too much time on the big bits and left out the detail.
I will tell you what AFPD is like when I have played with it later on today.

Mike
