I think all you SILENT 20%ers should just STAY SILENT. I wouldn't be bragging about your ignorance to the entire world if I were you. And by the way, you deserve everything you got coming to you - NOTHING !!!

Lego - It is unfortunate that you and others think that this is a complete representation of America and Americans as a whole. However, don't honestly think that Germans do "IT" or everything else better either. Much of the technology and advancements you too get to appreciate these days come from and were invented no where other than the good old U.S.A.

All of you should play nicely together anyway - all those in power are moving your jobs, livelyhoods and the market to China anyway. won't be no more - Mercedes, Audi, Porsche - when those short sighted easy way out Americans can no longer afford them or the effort to bail you out.

I tried REAL HARD to resist posting this - HONEST. Guess the easy way out would have been to ignore it - Huh?

Always liked and appreciated RC-Sim. Hope they work something out.

They should have donations... maybe they could come up with the money if enough people donated? If not then just put your files in your shard folder and download on bit torrent

Wow guys,

that's an interesting thread. And it is still here, not yet being deleted ???
Nice discussion about nationalities, cars, fighters... Being really impressed by some words here, but I actually don't care about nationality in our worldwide community.

So let's see some facts:

rc-sim will reopen soon! Please don't plan to move data to another site, because most model designers support the guys at rc-sim in their work and will not give permission.

They don't plan to leave their provider, because they are extremely happy with him (server for their own, extreme high reliability, perfect personal service, good price...).

The people behind rc-sim want to keep the site non commercial.

So they have to get some more banner advertising for next year to even increase their enormous bandwidth.
Dion made a good point about placing banners in the download section.
Also I can imagine some advertising from non german companies, because rc-sim has visitors from all around the world.
They also own the www.rc-sim.com address and have an english forum included.
Also I can imagine a donation possibility as suggested by Greg and Dave.

And finally many thanks for all nice words about supporting this site. It gives a good motivation for the people spending their time just from enthusiasm.

Best regards
Karl-Heinz (Rodeo)

Oh so if your not a democrat Bush hater anti war guy, you have no right to your opinion?

Oh by the way, aren't "M" class Mercedes built in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, which is, um,,,, in the USA?

How does a good thread turn into these types of us against them discussion? I know, it ananimity. I wonder how many guys would stand face to face and spew the same crap?

I just checked the sight, says it's down. If the only issue is buying bandwidth, that doesn't seem like and insurmountable obstacle, even if they don't want to sell advertising. Good luck to them, I hope it comes back

Kule...you are right on target[sm=thumbup.gif]. I don’t know why this thread is still here[sm=spinnyeyes.gif]. When I am in a friendly foreign country, I say, “I am Swiss” just like Bill Maher on HBO TV. Lately I think I am hearing many echoes[sm=bananahead.gif].

Karl-Heinz,

That is indeed good news re the rc-sim site, let's all of us wish them well and provide what support we can. Clearly the site is a valuable asset for the entire community.

And also thank you very much for the wisdom in your remarks re this thread and our global fellowship.

Not true I am afraid. They have basically ignored the G3 users from day one. I have sent them dozens of files (at their request) and not one of them ever saw the light of day. When I sent them a file for AFPD however it was posted the next day G3 has been out for a year and they have like 3 planes available for it and they are all Gliders. G3 users wont care if the site fails..

Who ignored who? Might want to call up your friends Knife Edge and find out why they ignored their "modelers" for so many years. Why should they support companies that don't support modelers? If anyone is a true flip flopper you are the one Rick. Nothing wrong with it ... just strange sometimes.

And as far as what I orginally posted to Lego regarding our F-22 Raptor, it was meant to have some humor in it. Of course I also forgot to mention some of the space products the USA has developed recently like privatley funded vehicles that can fly in outer space, but I'll pull that trump card out next time there is another discussion aimed around which country has the best engineering. (meant to be somewhat funny).

LONG LIVE RCSIM.DE! OMP VOWS TO BE THE FIRST TO ADVERTISE.

LONG LIVE KING BUSH AND THE RIGHT WINGERS! Polls mean nothing.

They wrote me a letter asking if they could host my files I told them YES and they asked me to send them and I did (3times). That was many months ago... How does politics fit into this thread??
Not true G3 has skins, flying fileds and flight models BTW

Someone needs to start a new thread "AFDPvsReflexvsG3", most of the users on this forum only tried G3 when it was released (and boy did it suck) Physics were strange, snap tendency, no helis, multiplayer broken, graphics card issues, performance issues, no photofields (panos), cant import new Panos(and make collision objects) bugs, bugs and more bugs and no new planes for free. In the last year all of the issues I just mentioned were fixed and now (finally) we have what they advertised!~

Well there was some interesting reading. i personally feel that Kev's comments were a bit out of hand....but then again, being a "free american" as you are, you are allowed "freedom of speech". However, a few things....what has the merc M class got to do with RC-Sim? they are made all over the world. if they were just made in one plant, think of the costs of shipping these cars to the UK, Europe, Asia and that sorts, not just in "Tuscaloosa, Alabama, which is, um,,,, in the USA "

i personally feel this topic should be closed, it has no usefull meaning accept for it to be a bĂ*tching ground for pointless off topic arguments.

Just my 2 pennys worth

Hi Dion,
that is exactly how I understood your Raptor-comment.
I'm a bit surprised how big the waves became here due to our Mercedes-Audi-Porsche-Raptor-Intermezzo. It was definately not meant seriously (see smileys).

@All,
in my opinion it is OK to have discussions about all those things like how to do a big website or building cars even if the discussion becomes more intensive. I never felt the discussion getting personal. So it's ok.
I also believe, that we can have different opinions about all that without ending up in a stupid fight between nations.

And just one word about myself: You may be surprised if I tell you that I have alot of good friends in the USA. I love to visit them from time to time and I allways enjoy the exchange of cultures with my friends. I have traveled the country from south California to north Oregon and have been many times around in the area of NYC and up to Michigan and have met many different people there. It was allways interesting - regardless which political direction they followed.
So, I think I have a good and differentiated picture of the people in your country.
And as an engineer with a big interest in technological history I have a good overview about the inventions of our two countries...

So, let's continue in a more friendly way with positive thinking and the best wishes to rc-sim! We all have the same hobby! [sm=RAINFRO.gif]

Cheers,
Lego

Ian,
your right, off topic. If I have to explain the responses (to others comments) I posted, then it's not really worth the effort. This thread is headed down hill fast. I won't fall into the trap of us verses them, democrat vs republican, European vs American, G3 vs....... No thanks. I'd rather go flying.

So Lego (or anyone else) if your ever back in Northern Oregon, let me know, I'll come pick you up and take you flying. I've been all over as well, lived in Italy for several years, Scotland for a while, Australia...... Found flying buddies inall of them and have always been amazed at how our beloved hobby atracts such wonderful people.
