This is probably "old hat" to all of you, but I am new to this area. I was given a Real Flight G2 and controller by the widow of a flier. I am wondering whether it is worth the trouble to try to get it up and running on a fast Windows XP computer? I know from reading the G3 system requirements that I would have no trouble getting G3 going, but my current interest does not warrant laying out the $200+ dollars for a new program. If I like G2, who knows, I might just get hungry for G3.

G2 was written to run on Win XP and since your PC is up to the requirements of G3, you should expect G2 to run great on it, go for it
, now as to you getting the "itch" to upgrade to G3, well thats a chance you'll just have to take, can't help you there

You are so right! But I just made a terrible mistake when I first posted. What the lady passed on to me is the original Real Flight Simulator and also what is labeled as Flight Simulator G2 Upgrade. I am hopeful that I can install the earlier Real Flight using the XP old program installation helper and then follow up with the conversion to G2 via the upgrade. Think it will work?

It works on mine. You need to go to the G2 website as they give directions for the installation. A key point is that you do not run either the original or the G2 update until you do the on-line update for G2. I'm at work now so do not have the references here. Do a search on Realflight, G2 and XP and you will find the site.
