If I remember right that is one of the things on the list at TowerHobbies, I will check again. Also, I didn't notice, but there are also six new planes, one is a VPP. Two of those are Helicopters, small electric, one HeliMax AXE CP and the other is a HeliMax AXE EZ, not sure what that is. Also, it has what everyone has asked for about Heli's, new Virtual Flight Instructor Videos along with the Orientation Trainer.

I'm thinking of going out today and picking up G3 at my LHS... I downloaded the demo and literally spent 4 hours on it with those 2 planes alone... I didn't even relize the time had passed =O

This new free upgrade has the functionality to fly with combat streamers.

Thruth is, multiplayer hasn't meant a thing to me up to now. Now I can see using it. Matter of fact, when I go to the club field today, I'm gonna be lobbying all the guys to fly some combat online. OH CRAP!!!! I JUST REALIZED..... they all got cable connections and I'm on dialup....... Jeez......

You know, combat online makes as much sense as supplementing your learning on the sim. A newbie can save lots of money practicing on a sim. Crashes cost nothing. And combat ALWAYS has the constant cost of blownup airplanes, always..... until now.

I e-mailed RealFlight and asked them when the release was going to be. They said in Mid to late October.

It is also a FREE upgrade for current G3 owners and is included on new purchases.

That's for the full version. I believe the date is October 29'th for that. Current G3 owners will be able to upgrade on the 10'th through knifeedge.com.(I'm assuming)

I specifically asked about the update. That was the answer they gave me. I didn't ask about the full version.

Does anybody know if AFPD is cooking up a similar DELUXE - PART II upgrade? Keeping these guys competing is what makes it all worth while! Any whispers out there?

I'm pretty sure you can make a turbine heli in G3.

I probably could if I knew how one flew....LOL. I had the Pulse jet engines on a Hughes 500E in G2, but it wasn't the same as a real turbine powered heli. I'll have to try and make one.

Now there is a challenge......Someone who has a turbine heli make a turbine version for G3.

This just in... Combat streamers is not in this. You will not be able to actually cut the ribbon.

Yeah, from what the beta testers are saying on the KnifeEdge forums, there is no cutting the streamers. [&o] The devs said the reasoning was "performance issues." While it would be AWESOME to have this functionality, the fact that this upgrade is completely free negates any bad feelings I had. What a great way to counter FSOne! And who knows... it could be comming in an update. [8D]

Yeah I am still pissed about G3 coming out two months after I bought G2 because I checked before I bought it at the LHS and nothing was listed about G3 on their website. Still flying G2 and haven't bought a Great Planes ARF or O.S. product since and now I am more active in the hobby. Nice to see they accomodated G3 owners assuming the free upgrade is true. At least they are learning...well sort of.

I finally broke down a few of months ago and bought the G3 version at a local hobby shop. When I got it home and installed it, I found out the version I bought had been on their shelves since G3 came out. It didn't even have the helicopters on the disk. I had to get an update disk to install the helis and that's what I fly. I wasn't happy with the LHS for not telling me it was an early version of G3.

I hope G3.5 will be worth the wait.
