Hi All,
I've just applied patch version 1.0.7 to my installation of FS One. I didn't have any problems with prior versions, but I applied the patch to be "up to date".
Now I have discovered a problem; the engine sound has only two modes: idling and full throttle. It feels though, that only the sound is affected. Intermediate throttle settings affect flight as expected.
Any thoughts? Is there a configuration which can be tweaked to restore "proportional" engine rpm sound?
Thanks,
Norm

Norm,
We'll look into this. What type of sound card, CPU, and OS are you using?

Hi Brian,
I'm running Windows XP SP2 with all available updates installed.
My motherboard is an Intel D945GTP with the onboard sound enabled (SigmaTel High Definition Audio CODEC).
The CPU is a Pentium D 930 with 2 gigs of ram.
For now, I uninstalled the application and re-installed version 1.0.1, tested (OK) and applied patch 1.0.5 and tested (also OK).
I didn't test patch 1.0.6, but I can if you're interested in the results.
Let me know if you want very specific details (driver versions, etc); I can PM you with any information you need.
Thanks,
Norman

I'm having exactly the same problem on both of my PC's, which both have the latest sound drivers, and both have patch 1.0.7
- Dell Insiron 9100 with SigmaTel sound
- Homebuilt Intel D845WN/P4-2.6 with Soundblater Live! card
I would regress to 1.0.6 but I can't find it anywhere to download.

I worked with FS1 support all last week trying to resolve this issue, to no avail. One of their suggestions was for me to get a PC that doesn't have a SigmaTel sound chip in it! (nice fix). I even tried back levels of the sigmatel drivers. I'm not sure FS1 considers this their problem (e.g. compatibility with any PC). I'm getting 75 FPS on the PC I'm using, so it's got the torque to run FS1. But I find flying with no audio feedback on the throttle/engine greatly impacts practicing maneuvers and landings. I would like to get patch 105 to get my throttle sound working correctly, but back level patches are not available from FS1. I consider FS1 to be a great improvement over AFPD and RF3.5 I was previously using, so would like to continue using FS1 if I can. Does anyone out there have patch 105 they can make available to me to try out? Thanks.
p.s. Flight Pack 1 (containing the ShowTime I got FS1 for in the first place) has been adertised as being available "early Summer". Per FS1 sales, it is now projected to be out in October ("early Fall?).

If you have applied FS1 patch 1.0.7 and your throttle sound no longer follows the transmitter stick position, download patch 1.0.5 from http://inertiasoft.com/support.html and apply it over top of 1.0.7. Your throttle sound should then work correctly. Hopefully this bug will be fixed in the next FS1 patch to be released.

As rgp1842 points out, there are previous patches and even individual exe's located at [link=http://www.inertiasoft.com/support.html]http://www.inertiasoft.com/support.html[/link]
Be sure to look at the bottom of the screen when FS One runs to see which version you are running. Just to be sure you're running the version you think you are running.
We are aware of the SigmaTel sound problem and plan to develop a fix for that sound chipset.

Refresh my memory on how to tell what sound card I have. I have a Dell computer, 2.8Ghz 1GB memory and asked this same question in FSOne by Hangar 9 forum. I'm running Windows XP, probably home edition. I to have the same sound issue on some models. I believe a month or so ago I went back to 1.06 or 1.05 and eliminated the problem, but somewhere along the line I updated back to 1.07 and the problem recurred.

I think I'm really confused. Some time ago I updated my FSOne with patch 1.0.7 and have the Sigma Tel sound card problem. I checked the patch website and now see only patches through 1.0.5. What happened to 1.0.6 and 1.0.7? Yes, I have checked, and at the bottom of my FSOne opening screen, it says "Version 1.0.7." Just wondering should I "update" back to patch 1.0.5?

download patch 1.0.5 from http://inertiasoft.com/support.html and apply it over top of 1.0.7. Your throttle sound should then work correctly.
When I see a patch newer than 1.0.7 at http://www.fsone.com/Downloads/Default.aspx I will try it and see if sound still works properly on a PC with a SigmaTel sound chip.
