I was at the local book store on Friday night, and as I was flipping through one of the R/C mags. (Airplane Modeler Buyers Guide I think) There was a 2 page Add that said "Coming Early Summer 2007!" Hanger 9 FS One Hanger Pack 1" It showed the box with a Showtime 4-D on the cover as well as a Piper cub and some sort of helicopter. Needless to say I was very excited, so upon arriving home I went straight to the FSONE web site, and was quite surprised to find nothing. I even Googled FS ONE expansion pack, and once again found nothing. Is this a legit Add or is the web site just running a little behind ?

OK, so today I wanted to verify exactly what I saw on the other night, So Iwent back to the store and bought the magazine in question. Here are pics of the add in question. FS ONE still has nothing on their web site.

Unfortunately my pictures (image files) are too big so I have to send them two at a time. So here are two more. The Add says 10 more aircraft but how many are planes and how many are helicopters? What about more flying Sites ?

OK Last one ! Maybe I'm just being picky but if they are advertising that the FS ONE Hanger pack 1 will be available "early summer" then it's pretty much ready to go. Why are they giving so little info about the long awaited first expansion ? Not to mention Why run this add and have no mention of this product on the official web site

What they're doing is called "lack of co-ordination". Or maybe they're doing exactly what they need to do.
They have to place magazine ads ahead of time. Might be two months lead time, maybe three. Three months ago they thought they'd be releasing HangarPack1 around early summer and wanted the ad to show up about now to stir up some early interest and discussion.
They're getting the discussion result. Seems if they were still expecting the release about now, they'd also be answering questions wherever they have people that answer questions. Or maybe they're not that co-ordinated.
The fact they don't have anything about it in their website has a couple of possible reasons. They don't keep their website current is one possibility. They've discovered they aren't going to be able to release the Pack1 as expected and don't want to have the website mention something that isn't going to be available on time. There are other possibilites.

I just noticed that the date on the front of the magazine is August 2007. I dont know when the magazine was actualy released, but Im pretty sure any adds that were going in to it had to be submitted a while ago. It's quite possible that FS ONE was fully intending on an early summer release for the hanger pack at the time this add was submitted, but as is the case with almost all computer software, it wasn't ready in time.

So when do you think it will be released?!

Almost every developer winds up missing a deadline sooner or later. It's diabolical sometimes. They hold off making the announcement until it looks like an absolutely sure thing and the day they commit to the announcement, a supplier screws up. Or sometimes they simply aren't good developers. You'll never know. Unless it happens all the time with the mfg you're watching.

I had a friend that owns a video game store and they always get release dates for new video games, and it's not uncommon for the games to miss their release dates by up to a year due to programing difficulties, or glitches found during beta testing. I would much rather they release the FS One hanger pack when it's ready vs rushing to get it out and having an infirior product that is full of bugs and glitches. I am eagerly awaiting this first expansion but I think we would all rather have a quality product that makes us feel like it was worth the wait.
