OK, after many months of deliberating and reading this forum, I finally broke down a bought the G2, after 15 years of not flying I need all the help I can get, so I'm basicly back to square one and newbie at the field. I hope this is a good investment.

From: nc, NY,
Coming back after a 18 years layoff myself. Best investment I’m made.
It takes a little practice on the landing and locating the runway using G2. Fly around using the pilot view position and learn the visual reference points to setup landing patterns (ie: trees, building, water tower, landmarks, spots on grass, etc.). Once you know your way around, it makes flying and landing from the ground view easier.

I am a new RC flyer. Soloed 2 weeks ago. I didn't get set up on G2 until after the solo session but I can tell you that after the first evening flying the simulator, I was a much improved flyer. I no longer have to think much about whether the plane is coming toward me or going away. That was a biggie. I had never landed on the runway until this weekend when, after a week of using G2 I landed 20+ times. Once on the grass, the rest on the asphalt runway. The grass landing was a dead stick. Could have made the runway but landed just short.
Airpolice is dead on with the lining up the runway issue. It is harder on G2 because in real life, you always know where the runway is in relation to the plane. I found using the view/look at ground setting to be a big help at first. Now I don't need it.
As for handling, It is quite realistic. Make sure you try a little wind now and then.
I think this is an excellent investment. On Sunday morning I flew inverted, did stall turns, inside and outside loops and snap rolls successfully (not perfectly) and probably would not even have tried most of them without the simulator.

You couldn't buy me off with shiny trinkets and beads. I'd want a new engine or radio....something good. I'll buy my own shoes, thank-you. (Now really good jewelry I'd might consider, but I'd still want a new engine too.)

My wife has no interest in the hobby, but she supports everything I do, I really don't have to buy her anything, but it would be nice to say, Honey, I bought you a new 120 4-stroke, do you wan't me to install it or do you wan't to?

After many years of being with someone, I am now single (but not available) so I can spend as much as I want with nobody to complain. Actually, my husband was satisfied with a good TV and beer. He was killed in a motorcycle accident. God, I miss him.

Soryy to hear about your loss
On another note, got my G2 last night, WOO HOO!!, it installed without a flaw, boy am I rusty!, I musta crashed about 50 times
, well I expected it after a 15 year layoff. What a really need is to practice landings.

Make sure you try going to "view" and choosing "look at ground". this helps keep track of where the plane is in relation to the runway. You have to do it each time you start flying. Once I started doing this landing got much easier. Now that I am more familiar, I don't usually need this view anymore.

I was away from R/C for near 10 years and practiced with G2 and when I flew for real the other day it was easier than the G2.
I flew airplanes on G2 that are similar or mor difficult than my real models. I don't regret the investment one little bit.
Also for landing practice, set landings to "Realistic".

I practiced with G2 using airplanes with the same or greater difficulty levels than my real models. The other day when I flew for real it was easier than G2!
When you practice landings, set the landing difficulty paramiter to "realistic".

Thanks for the words of confidence, I was kinda skeptical when I bought it, but after using G2 first hand, I'm sold on this product.
Thanks everybody here for their input.
