Default Real Flight Classic and Windows XP

Ok,
My Controller (not the USB) is not functioning
after I updated windws from 98 to XP
I am hearing all the sounds and the plane, flying
field is set, but the controller is set to 33% throttle
and elevator full right rudder all the time....
Tried to Calibrate with no success!

I updated my version from the realflight site
as well as installed Direct x 9.0 ...
Still no success.....

Any opinions is appreciated!

Regards

I think your going to have to update to real flight g2. I had the same problem. So I bought a new computer think it was going to solve the problem. Was I wrong. All it had was usb hook ups. Then I had to buy the new controller. Now I am glad I did that. You might have to unstall Xp if you want to fly. Well hope you can get it solved.

Sorry it took me so long to replt to you. What I had to do is buy the g2 lite and it came withe the controller. I think it almost the same price as if you were to buy the program. After that it ran great on xp. Again sorry it took so long to respond to you.

First, we ask that you bear in mind the version of RealFlight you are using was NOT developed for running under Windows XP, only the earlier versions of Windows. As such, we cannot provide any specific guarantees that it will work under XP. The software developers have created a product update for running Classic under XP that has been very successful for the vast majority of those who are using it. Here is the link you need to access the latest product update for RealFlight Classic:

http://www2.realflight.com/rfserial.html

You will need your RealFlight Classic serial number. Please enter this serial number into the box and click on Continue. If you have already registered you will be able to just click on the button for product updates from here. Once you are directed to the site, you can find the latest version of the product update for RealFlight Classic (look for the version 1.20.216 4.8MB). Download the file to your computer and from there you can install the update into RealFlight. It would be a good idea to save this update file to a disc (Zip Disc, CD-RW, etc.) so you can save it for the future should you need it. If your e-mail provider will not allow you to access a hyperlink from your e-mail account, then you will need to cut and paste the URL from this message into your browser.

After you update your version of RealFlight you may need to change your controller in your Windows Control Panel. Please click on Start, go to Settings and click on Control Panel. If you are in classic mode please click on Game Controllers. If you are in catagory mode, please switch to classic mode and then click on Game Controllers. Please remove all controllers from this box. After you have removed all controllers, click on Add and scroll down until you find RealFlight Controller_W2K and click on it then add it to your Game controllers by clicking OK. You should see RealFlight Controller_W2K Status OK. Exit the Game controllers and the Windows Control Panel. Start your RealFlight. At this point you may still get errors about the joystick, just click ok on them. If this is the only error it will let you go on.
If you have RealFlight Classic or Deluxe:
Please go to Simulator settings after you click OK on your Tip of the Day. Once you are there click on the Controller tab. At the top you will see Controller Type. Please change this to RealFlight Controller_W2K then click on calibrate. After this you should not receive joystick errors when opening the program.
If you have RealFlight G2:
Please click on Options the Controller Calibration and change your Controller type to RealFlight Controller_W2K. After you do this, please calibrate your controller.

the only reason it would say not connected is if that is not the device it is looking at (Windows 98) or your sound drivers need to be updated (all operating systems) try updating the drivers and removing all other controllers from your Windows Game controllers box

Which controller do you have ?? Do you have usb or parell??? If you have parell you need to buy the usb controller. I run xp and it runs great after I purchased the new controller. Let me know what you have.

Hisham,
OK...When you updated to DirectX 9.0 you made it necessary for your sound and video drivers to be dated 11/02 or more recent. Check the c-media site and see if they have more updated drivers. Then you should see status connected. FYI...you cannot use the InterLink controller with RealFlight Classic or RealFlight Deluxe, it will not work!!!! If you can't get updated drivers for your sound and video cards, You will have to either reformat or restore(if you set a restore point) to before you installed DirectX 9.0
