I have lost the voice recordings on the training videos.
The sound effects and the engine sounds are ok, but the voices are gone.
I have turned down the hardware acceleration in control panel, but that only helps with the engine sounds.
Everything but the instructor voices work fine.
Windows XP
ASUS A85NX
Athlon 4000+
2 gb ram
I remember that they once worked, but I think they disappeared after an FSOne update. I am running version 1.1
Any ideas?

Is the issue with all training vid's (airplane and heli's) or with just one video?
I also looked at the Q Keyboard key, but in that key also silences the motor.

There is no instructor voice with any of the lessons. I uninstalled and re-installed the program and the problem is still there.

I'm not saying this to be a smart ass, but your sure the slider I mentioned before isn't all the way to the right (at low or no volume). Something really odd must be happening. if you uninstalled the software and then reinstalled it, the slider should have reset itself to the left at full volume for the training voice.
And through all this the motor volume works fine. If the slider isn't the issue, I think the next step might be to update the sound drivers.
I just re-read your original post. if the slider doesn't work, and the sound driver updates don't work, than another, but much longer approach might be to roll back your updates. I'm not sure if this can be done. The prospect of uninstalling and reinstalling would be a real drag, but it may prove that after your re-install (without any updates that the training voice still works). Of course if this too fails to correct the training voice, I'd be suspect that something else is going on.
I'm stumped, maybe a call to Horizon to assist. Oh and try this link too just to be sure it isn't a hardware issue:

I read your post like you are trying to help me, so thank you.
I will have to call Horizon on this. Last night I removed the program from my computer and re-installed just the disks. No updates or expansion pack. All the sounds were fine except the voice. My sliders look just like your picture above. I have installed the latest drivers from my motherboard manufacturer. I really can't think of anything else. The weird this is that it did work a long time ago.
I am going to install an old soundblaster sound card and try that. If that doesn't do the trick then I'll have to make a call to support. Thanks everyone

I've got another idea. This will just confirm that the software is actually set correctly. Close FSOne.
Open a windows explorer window and navigate to the C drive and then to the Programs folder and then to FSOne folder. Inside FSOne folder is an Options folder. There are two text files to open and inspect. the first is the default_options.txt file and the other is the options.txt folder. The default folder is as it sounds the default settings for FSOne out of the box, the other is overrides that you set in the program. As in my attached image, scroll down both of these files and look for the Sounds section, then look at the Voicevolume and see if there is a 0 (instructor voice off) or 1 (voice instructor on).
They should both be set to 1 or on. If they are not set to 1, close both files and make copies of them (just in case FSOne fails to run afterwords) and change the original files so the extension is ._xt instead of .txt. Then rename the copied files just like the originals, open them up and change accordingly.
Oh and then close these files and then run FSOne.
regards,
Scott
