Default Laptop to TV connection

I recently purchased a G-4 from a club member. The configuration I am looking for is a connection from my Dell laptop to my LG HDTV. There is a VGA(PC) connection on the TV set (monitor) which I have connected to an identical VGA port on the laptop. When all is turned on and the G-4 is up and running on the laptop, I am receiving a "no signal" message on the TV. I e-mail RealFlight and they were only able to tell me what I already suspect: it is a failure of my PC to recognize the TV. Anyone having a solution please share.
Thanks,
Tim

look on your F keys. I think it is F4. hold down function and F4 and you should see it on your TV now.

Yes, you need to press the function key, fn and one of the f keys at the same time, it might be f4, but on dell laptops its usually f7 or f8.

Thanks fellow modelers, I will give the fn and f7 or f8 for the Dell and see what happens.
