sorry if this has been asked before, but what is the proper way to dispose of nitro fuel? I have about 1/5 gallon left that is almost 1 year old.

Bad fuel,
you can never get the HS needle peaked out and the engine will not run without heat on the glow plug. This is all OK for break in. You can leave the heat on and leave the engine rich.
If your fuel does not follow these parameters and runs OK, then it is OK to fly with it

RE: Rc Fuel Faq
I'm trying to mix fuel for my buggy/truggy .
I have bought:
5 gallons of Methanol
1 gallon of nitro methane
2 pints of castor
I could not find a synthatic oil. The motorcycle shop I went to didn't carry it at all. Where can I find any synthatic oil? is synthatic same as the motor oil (5w-30) or marvel mystery oil?
Also I read on here to add 1 ounce of Propylene /gallon of mixture to make the idle more consistant. Some people are also suggesting adding aceton and armaroil, are those necessary for my application?

Propylene Oxide is very dangerous and is banned by the American hot rod association. It boils at 34C (about 93F), has a flash point of -37C (about -35F) and any vapours can explode within an extremely wide range (2 to 37% !!).
Acetone isn't necessary because you'll be using nitro. Armorall stops foaming of the fuel in the tank from vibrations and all that's needed is one quick squirt into a gallon of fuel. Your engine will love the castor, it'll protect the rod bushes and stop the bearings from rusting too.

You are better off ordering your oil from Morgans, Sig, or Fox Manufacturing that from a motercycle shop. It will cost much less, and you don't have to worry about confusion about which oil for alcohol powered engines VS gas.

I don't know how much to put in but I do know if it is too much it will coat the element in the glow plug and it idles and runs horrible. I got a bad gallon once and had a to speak to the fuel engineer about it.

RE: Rc Fuel Faq
hi new to the R/C truck stuff (duratrax rtx with supertiger 4.4 cs) and am amazed at the cost of fuel. I bought a gallon of trinity monster hp 20% nitro at 30.00 a gallon for break in and playing but have ran out. Now I am having great difficulty finding fuel other than traxis at 15.00 per quart so I read all the post here and used some common sense (ie 20% 99% pure nitro and 62% 99% pure methanol and 18% oil (75%syn 25% caster) is the same no matter what the intended vehicle type states on the bottle). I have decided to buy the 17.00 gallon of airplane fuel and give it a try. I did not make it to the hobby shop so I called duratrax support to make sure it would not void the warranty and they stated 18% oil is there recomendation and the fuel would be fine. The tech did say not to use traxis fuel in there truck. I had bought 1 quart of traxxis when I first ran low on fuel and had a very hard time getting the engine up to operating temp (half a tank) before it would shift then hard to keep temps under 330 could the problem have been from the fuel itself or may I have hurt something already

RE: Rc Fuel Faq
I have read all threads and only saw one snipit about boat engines I own a kb 3.5cc outboard and a duratrax rtx with supertiger 4.4 is there a fuel that will work for both. I do not race as I know no others in my area with the same interest although I have found Embassy raceway only 25 miles from my home to play with the truck.

My son uses simple home brewed 80/20 methanol/castor fuel in his car engine and it works perfectly. With a standard engine it's slightly down on power but if you're not racing you'd never know. My suggestion for your car and boat engines would be to get some plane fuel (usually has more oil than car fuel) with a low nitro content.

RE: Rc Fuel Faq
Ran 1 tank of wildcat 15% nitro 18% oil (80%syn 20% degummed caster) 18.00 in my rtx (4.4 cs supertiger) after a complete tear down and resealing with copper permatex to the back of the engine and fuel inlets. Also used losi green slime to the needles and output shaft to the rotostart. Seemd like the needles both had to be opened considerably more than factory but it ran like a scalded dog once I richened it to stop bogging at the shift point with wot. Refilled the tank and switched glow plugs and the rotostart did not function right so I will be trying again tomorrow when I get the engine back in. (rotostart works after cleaning the one way bearing)

RE: Rc Fuel Faq
well after a half gallon of wildcat 15% nitro 18% oil 75%syn 25% caster truck is still running great and easier to keep tuned to keep temp 300 and under, usually shoot for the 270 mark as recomended by mfg but it sure sings at 300 Gary
