Turbine Engine Oil
#27
A term usually meaning a nice, slow idle. "Ticking over" means idling.

Yes I will run this engine for a few flights and then tear it apart to have a look. I haven't been out flying lately due to crappy weather and other life commitments.
I used 15% turbine oil and 2% castor oil.
I did not think the needles were more sensitive with this fuel. We adjusted the low speed needle an 1/8 of a turn at a time just like we did with the 10% nitro fuel and the high speed till the engine leaned out and slowed down and then we richened it up a bit to our liking.
The compression is raised in the engine, but I cannot tell you by how much because I do not know. I had the head machined so the squish band was .010" from the piston at TDC instead of the stock .016"
Everything I read pointed towards acetone helping with the idle, that's why I used it, but according to what I read it does nothing for the top end.

It's funny you should ask that question because this fuel has a real distinct smell to it in the jug and cleaning the excess off the plane after a flight. If you open a box of band aids the smell you get from inside the box is what the spent oil smells like when I am cleaning off the plane.
The fuel in the jug has a strong odour to it, but it doesnt remind me of anything like the spent oil does.

You can buy fuel-scent in lots of different "flavors" (grape, vanilla, cherry, etc) and I always wondered why they didn't do a "castor" or "Jet-A1" scent.
