Project Mammuth - The Second
Hello everyone!
We're back with a new car and a new dimension of R/C cars. It's in planning state, but most of the details has been developed.
Main features:
- 1:3 scale
- 110cc 4 stroke engine with rear axle differential
- custom control system with telemetry
- 4 custom oil disc brakes

RE: Project Mammuth - The Second
Hello,
Good luck for your project, really exiting to see the progression of the built. For the tires you will try with the ATV or Go-Kart Dirt?
Cheers.
Whoz.

For the test we will use the factory ATV tires, but there are lawnmover tractor tires (even slick ), which are good for us

It's going well, we fixed, "improved" a lot of parts, now it's reliable. In April Hungary's biggest car portal come to see it And what about yours? Which is your latest?

RE: Project Mammuth - The Second
At the moment I'm not really doing much RC related, partly because I broke my thumb a few weeks ago, and partly because I'm still collecting bits for it, but the most recent one is [link=http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/fb.asp?m=10257058]THIS[/link].
I'm also working on a chopper bicycle.
It started with cutting a bike in half and modifying it but then I started from scratch and this is what I'm up to at the moment.

Just got a bigger front wheel for it this morning as that one is a bit too small.

That's looking good!
Getting very professional with all the 3D renderings too.
So the rear suspension will be the same swingarm setup as on the first one?

Interesting what kind of processor will you use for controlling these things ? will you use some PIDcontrollers too ? what about wireless ? Zigbee or wifi communications ?

I've found a lot of great stuff @ www.tinyclr.com
We will use a FEZ Cobra. The best thing, that I can write the whole firmware. For wireless we will use XBee antenna pairs

RE: Project Mammuth - The Second
if i can recommend .. modules from telegesis are much stable. www.telegesis.com
Iwas designing a wireless measuring/diagnostic tool for measuring pressure in brakes of trucks and trailers and i had problem with Xbee. i have three of them. sometimes, i have problem with UARTreading that it communicated 4 minutes ok and after that time, i recieved only strange letters or communication was not stable. I wrote them emails and i got no response. Perhaps, not lucky day. It's just my experience
i know nothing about tinyclr/FEZcobra if i were you, i will just use PIC24/PIC32, own board and do it exactly i need, but completed solutions if they are cheap, why not

RE: Project Mammuth - The Second
Thanks a lot buddy! That is helped a lot...
The FEZ Cobra is like a board computer. It has processor, USB, Ethernet, SD-Card, optional Wifi, touch screen, servo-controller etc. and many-many analog-digital IO. It runs the Microsoft .Net Micro Framework, it doesn't need operation system. For me (.net desktop, server software developer) this is the best choice!

I have a homemade ~1:4 scale trophy truck: www.projectmammuth.com. It doesn't have a chassis, only the top, bottom, left, right side have a piece of plastic
