If you don't have much money the place to start would be a scrap yard. There is one in town here and it is a gold mine for scrap parts to use on an RC. They sell the scrap by weight and not the part. The one here sells all kinds of SS sheets with surface flaws for around $.60 a pound. You could find all kinds of parts you could use. I wish I would have known about them when I was younger would have saved a lot of time and money.

I found Hobbythek to be the cheapest, and with SE kit more of a bargain. Personally I prefer the looks of the Beetle, though handling looks a bit of a problem.

Thanks Mad Wax.
Ok, I've seen the MB and the MT and just wanted to ask all you guys what you think. I am not botherd by how the MB or MT looks, what I am wondering is, is the MT stronger with all the extra parts?? i.e. do the side plates actually take much more impact, and make it stronger??[]
Thanks in advance

If you do manage to damage it, front area and chassis is most likely to be hit, exhaust/pipe if it sticks out/hits the object so I doubt the side plates will help. Considering the size of the tyres and placement of the panels (between the tyres) and how sideways hit could happen - maybe a powerslide into a post- doubt it'll protect. If they're 1mm alumnium useless in a hard crash anyway. I've read some comments since the MT has extra shocks the ride is harder, so it's more likely to bounce around. Replacing oil/springs will of course tailor the ride.

I think the side panels are more likely to reduce dirt/grass being thrown into the chassis area. Since the MB has a spoiler that will help when you add a pipe, since MT lacks one. At least when you roll it the spoiler/spoiler mountings will transfer the impact, rather than smacking down onto the pipe. Also if you land sideways upside down onto one wheel the spoiler should take the first impact (one person landed upside down on one side, and smashed rear side drive bolt, dogbone and plastic drive hub, didn't have the spoiler on)

But regardless if you go head-on into a tree they'll all get damaged (see my Leopard Bad Crash page) unless you drive around with 2' of foam onto the front
