The gears on the marder are actually very strong. I've run mine for 2+ years without gear problems, even while running on a gravel road without a gear cover. I've only just recently broke the pinion/spur after a crash in a rock, and that was mostly because the gears were chipped/pitted from small pebbles getting in there over the years.
I'd suggest making sure you get a gear cover for it asap and you should have no problems for a long time.

The only other weak link i can think of is the lower rear control arms. After a number of flips you'll find that the "turnbuckles" in the lower rear control arms start to strip out of the arm.

Also, the wing will break in about five seconds after your first run...LOL

Replace the RC plate with a aluminium one - the standard Marder RC plate flexes, especially if you have a powerful throttle/brake servo, and it can fail near the front bolt area.
