Gasoline ?

It depends much on how you drive witch parts you are more likely to destroy first, so take it out for a spin and se how it goes from there, good luck [sm=thumbup.gif]
These cars are pretty good stock, so enjoy your beetle and have fun.

Edit: If you want better performance, start of with a nice tunepipe [sm=thumbup.gif] (but at stock they are quite nice to ) with a tunepipe, don't expect the noise to be lower, but it will sound cooler and be much wilder and harder to handle [sm=eek.gif][sm=eek.gif][sm=thumbup.gif]

DON'T forget a good failsafe !!!
Better safe then sorry, because these big things can destroy much and hurt people very bad, and i don't think you want to risk to loose control and it runs full throttle smack into a wall or something.

Alloy rear upper and lower a-arms, alloy gear carrier, alloy diff, hd diff tube, alloy body post, ball drives and an fg tuned pipe. That should about cover it. Oh, I forgot, steel pinion too.

Good FM radio, servos, and a good failsafe are paramount.

[8D] I am a fan of making the Beetle tougher and more drivable, next (steel pinion, alloy spur carrier, good diff. grease and diff. guard [or steel diff. tube], change the shock oil [to 50 weight oil], and get rid of the rear sway bar).

Then, I would replace the plastic hubs (uprights) with an alloy set.

After that, I would look into a good tuned pipe (which also means ball drives and wheelie bar).

That is the point that I have reached. Now, I am looking into upgrading to alloy...everything (a little bit at a time.)
