New engine, welcome home!!!
Well, I had a great friend sell me a very special engine. These engines are VERY hard to find. It is a 25cc yankee F7 "Tuned" engine. The engine has a carbon fiber reed box, billit aluminum crank case and is ported and polished. These engines retailed for over $900 and were so elite that they came in a custom wood box with a serial number on them. I sure cant wait to get it!!! Sweeeeeeeeet!!

Actually its gonna go in my 1/4 yankee viper. I have every single option in that car with the exception of this motor and front disc brakes (my friend is also sending those). After these two items that car is going to have it all!! Cant wait! These hop up parts are hard to get here in the US for the yankees, so its been about 4 years to get where I am with that car.

Very nice engine xknacx ! I guess you wont be driving that car, but would you like to post some pictures of that car ? would be great to see how it looks, and also how everything is fitted inside.
I sure can understand your collecting of rare parts and not driving most of them, as they are legend cars. But in the same time it's sad that they wont be driven, as thats what they where made to do.... maybe the soul of the car likes to stand still and shine, or it want to stretch out on a track... i guess we will never know
Anyways, love to hear about the special cars you get, and all the parts etc. I know you will show us your beauty when it's done, great work there xknacx [sm=thumbup.gif]

Here are a few pics. I will let them speak for themselves. Man its been a long time since I took this badboy down!!! So many toys and soo little time[&o] When I get the motor, it will be taken apart and cleaned. The covers will be re-painted to original color. After the motor is installed, I will actually drive the car since I have never experienced this motor before. I want to see what it will do with the 2 speed. Automan, I know what you are saying and it kills me not to drive some of these suckers but it would kill me more if I crashed something that I could not replace.

I love the suspension setup that car has. Very trick looking.
I noticed the front suspension has only one shock. It looks like it's setup so when one side of the suspension is compressed the other side lowers also much like what a sway bar would do. Have you ever run this car? How does that front setup handle?
BTW Have you ever tried riding that pocketbike in the background? I've been wanting to get one of those for a while now. My brother has an electric Razor pocketbike that is a blast to ride. They handle alot like a full size sportbike. it should make a killer r/c.

The suspension setup is exactly for what you stated. Most of the yankee cars are set up that way and it works pretty dang good! Of course I have driven the pocket bike! I am a pretty big guy and can just squeeze into a position where I can ride it. Its a blast, but I have not ridden it in months. Its only been driven a couple times. I bought it because it just looks cool and would make a cool rc one day.[8D]

Thats cool. I just wanted to make sure you took it for a ride before it becomes some insane r/c...LOL They are a blast to ride.
Here's a pic i took of my youngest brother (he's only 8, i'm 26 btw) riding his Razor pocketbike. Sorry for getting off the topic.
Are you planning on painting the body (of the viper)?

I have been putting off painting it. I think I want the blue and white run of the mill paint job.... but then again a new unpainted one is really rare. I will probably end up painting it though.

Don't paint it!!! take a mold of the thing and make a glass tissue body and paint that. You then have your cake and eat it too!!!

RE: New engine, welcome home!!!
JIMBO is correct on getting a glass mold made up. I priced getting one made of my old 1/8 scale 1969 Dodge Daytona. Was told that the mold and 1 body would cost me about $500 but the mold was mind to do as I pleased. I did not want to take a chance of letting them have the body since it is over 30 years old and irreplaceable should it get damaged. Off the subject a little but the other night I received a phone call from a guy who just bought my old 1969 Dodge Daytona street car from it's 2nd owner since I sold it. Asked him how much he paid for it and I almost fell over when he said $90,000.00 USD. Everything on the car was as I had originally bought and sold it and it only had 29,000 miles.
As you can see because the car had all original parts it sold for a much higher price that what I had paid back in 1969 ($6,500.00+/-). So xknacx, DO NOT Paint the body or tempt driving it with the original Viper body on. GET THE FIBERGLASS BODY MADE!

I just finally got the body painted, I was always afraid to mess it up. The paint master Mike Ogle did the ink Note the color changing ghost flames in the stripes!!! Pictures just do not do justice for this wicked work of art.

RE: New engine, welcome home!!!
Very nice car and excellent job getting it with all the options!!! I've never seen one firsthand just on the web- Hopefully I can snag a 1/4 scale street car in the future. I'm assuming it has the turnforce servo? I see a few of them from time to time on E-bay (Always when i'm broke!LOL!!) they normally don't last more then a few hours with a BIN feature. So why is it no one really makes 1/4 scale scale any more?( Not talking about the oval cars, but just supersized FG's or Harms?)
Let us know how it runs and what the top speed with the 2spd comes out to.
