Engine probs
I'd appreciate some help with engine starting problems.
Fuel is getting through (plug is wet after attempted start)
There is a good spark (2 new plugs tried)
There is good compression (new 27cc head kit)
Carb needles are at default settings.
Engine won't start???
I've tried richer/leaner low speed needle settings and put fuel directly in the head but it still won't fire.
Any ideas?

RE: Engine probs
try taking the pry out and cranking the engine that sould get out any unburt fuel which is in there just dont look at it when you do it cus oil can travel then dry the plug and take some fine sand paper and sand the to points where it sparks then try to start if that doesnt work and ur getting a spark it could be your ur fuel mixture

RE: Engine probs
Thanks but I've tried that with no luck.
Fuel mix is 25:1, same as I always use.
Engine ran fine last time I used it but it's been sat unused for a month or two.

I appreciate you're trying to help but I'm not daft The problem isn't something as simple as trim settings, starting procedure or fuel mix.

RE: Engine probs
sometimes plugs spark when you have them out of the engine - but soon as you put them in a combustion situation they fail but you say you have tried 2 new plugs so the chances of 2 duff ones is unlikely,if none of the mixes have been touched or you aint added aftermarket filter and pipe i would suggest checking none of your cylinder head gasket has blown and the engine wont start because of to much air - failing that its either electrical or crap in the carb.

RE: Engine probs
Going to take it to local engine guru tomorrow and see what he says.
Tried adjusting idle but it still won't fire. Exhaust is fine and air filter element was replaced prior to use.
Thanks for the help, I'll report back after it's been looked at tomorrow. Got a spare engine due to arrive tomorrow so it's not too much of a problem.

RE: Engine probs
I'd set my both needles to factory settings...crank the idle screw all the way in..cause as hellya said without idle set it won't run...plop the choke down...prime it..and give it a whirl...should fire...then pull choke up and fire it up...you'll more then likely need to rev it up a bit to clear it out...2 cycles like to gunk up after sitting and need a good clearing out
I noticed you say new head kit? Is the gap between the flywheel and coil set right? It'll still produce spark if too far away but not enough to fire the engine.

RE: Engine probs
Thanks for the suggestions.
Took the engine to a local repair bloke this morning. The carb looks clean inside but he thinks one of the passages (can't remember correct term) may be dirty, he's going to run trace wire through it later to clean it out.
New engine fitted so I'm running again regardless
Thanks again.

Cheeky twonk [X(]
I'll have you know I'm top of the local league. Admittedly the only competition is a young lad with a knackered T-Maxx but he's quite good for an 8 year old.
Something was wrong with the carb. Bloke doesn't know what exactly but he tried a spare carb on the engine and it fired first time. Old carb was stripped, cleaned, poked and prodded until no trace of dirt remained but the engine still wouldn't fire with it fitted.
