RE: KPD hydraulic brakes
the full system is filled with hydro oil (mineral not auto hydro oil) when you apply the brake the servo pulls the piston rod on the master cylinder/resevoir (thats why u need high torque servo) forcing the fluid down the pipe line forcing a piston on the brake callipers attached to hubs to open against the brake pads - which in turn locks the brake disc giving brakeing - as long as the system is air tight you will get good brakeing - as for getting brakes pre bled - that dont mean jack, you always get airlocks or airbubbles which needs you to bleed them - all makes of hydros need constant servicing.i have two sets of fg magura on my fg,they came pre bled but i had to disconnect pipework to mount callipers meaning they got air in the system.you can bleed them on the cheap with a simple syringe and a lengh of petrol pipe - otherwise fg charge £50 for a bleeding kit.

i guess maintaining them is all part of the fun, and hell no, im not paying £50 for a bleeding kit!!
anywhere i can find a description on how to bleed them?
Thanks

RE: KPD hydraulic brakes
hellya, could you send me price on one or two sets inc fast shipment to Sweden ? and for extra rotors and pads, and those nice looking covers for the brakes.
And on the best tune pipe you got (with info on performance etc), size of it does not matter.
Mail would be great [sm=thumbup.gif]

If you want these brakes in Uk try http://www.pgracing.co.uk/index.html because customs is going to tax you to death if you get them from USA[:@]

RE: KPD hydraulic brakes
Do you guys typically run a third servo for hydro front brakes? I am wondering if my hitec HS-5645 digital servo is going to have enough power to operate the hydro brakes with the stock MT brakes? I really like to avoid buying another servo if it isn't needed.
For those running 1 servo for front hydro brake, stock FG MT brakes, and throttle do you guys find any problems adjusting linkages etc ?
Thanks

RE: KPD hydraulic brakes
Yes it will have plenty of power but running of the same channel in my opinion is not the best idea for a few reasons:
Less control-You paid for brake mixing why not use it? To stop in a straight line you want the rear brake to activate a few milliseconds before the front.
Saftey-If your throttlejams open you have no brakes no matter what failsafe you have.
Adjustability-Hydros will usually require almost a full 90 degrees from your servo with the rear brake lock up (servo) is usually about 30-45 degrees.
You don't need a monster servo for hydros I have a Futaba s9350 (139 oz @ 6v) and it is more than enough for one set of hydros; maybe even enough for two sets.(haven't tried that one yet)

RE: KPD hydraulic brakes
For what it's worth. Here are some pictures of hellya brakes I installed. Initially I had some problems installing everything but once I looked everything over and did a mock up of how everything was installed, it was easy. I'm using a HS-645MG for the brake/throttle setup and the setup is working well.

RE: KPD hydraulic brakes
thanks for the pics RC_feen
gonna definately have to get some now
i think the hardest bit will be getting all the linkages set up, unless i run an extra servo, then it wont be as hard

RE: KPD hydraulic brakes
Monstrous....The hardest thing about setting up the brakes was getting the linkage right with no binding. Using a third servo for the front hydro's would be easier but then it would cost more for the setup.
