OnBoard Monster Truck Camera
I am looking for a camera thats wireless that I can install in my FG Monster Truck. I want to take some video to make you feel like your in the truck. I have seen some cheap ones but the quality is not so good. Any ideas?? I want a good one that takes good clear video.

I use a color X-10 Camera. They come with a directional "patch" antenna. You can convert to omni (?) directional. I used a 2.4ghz wireless antenna (from Digi-Key). Search for X-10 helicopter cam (or something like that) for rc conversion instructions. They run on 12v, I use a pack of AA's. Same batteries have lasted years. You get a decent picture and sound. The reciever uses RCA AV outputs so you can watch or record it. Some folks have converted them for kites too. MIKE
PS, I think it is still X10.com

I have that pinhole camera that hellya linked to, and in my opinion it will not work for what you want. The transmister has to be like 5 feet or closer, and when you move the camera, the picture gets all distorted. Any pinhole cam that will be of any quality for the purpose you want, will be very pricey. I dont mean to bash it or anything, but I have that exact one. You may be better off trying to find a small video cam and trying to figure out how to mount that either in or on the RC, then trying ot use those cheap pinhole cams. Or, I dont know how well or how far a wireless WebCam goes/works but that may also be an idea.
I saw a SMALL video cam at Best Buy that had an attatchment that you mount on a helmet or hat, looked like a small mic, but it was the actual camera lense. Was made for recording sports N stuff while in action (snowboading, rollerblading) Then you would pack the camera somewhere else on the truck. Pinhole would be your best bet, but you would have to go with a MUCH better quality one.
Just my opinion obviously.

Try here..."http://parts.rctoys.com/rc-toys-hobbies/Items/390002%20-%20(S)?sck=38273173" I once had one of these and it worked great. The logic is quiet simple: "they are mounted on airplanes, and helis so that should give one an idea of their range and performance..

If you go on www.modelracer.com and have a chat with Owen or Steve from www.speedracer.co.uk they'll tell you what they use when they're doing live web casts and alike from the world and european championships.

RE: OnBoard Monster Truck Camera
most peopel want a cheap option (like me) so if something happens and you break it, you haven't broken a $300 camera.
I bought a $50 camera off ebay for my buggy, not wireless, uses an SD card, and has 3 megapixel. not the best thing aorund, but it works, and if i smash it, its no great loss

RE: OnBoard Monster Truck Camera
About 3 months before buying my Firehammer I sold an obsolete Sony analog 8mm camcorder. The tape transport had begun to act flakey and I couldn't trust it anymore for family stuff. I sold it at a garage sale for $15 just to keep from throwing it in the trash.
I could have turned it into a Hammer cam . It weighed about 3 pounds and probably would not have held up long.

Not to bad. I thought it would be bumpier then that. Too bad it cuts out so much - Hard to watch. You think its cutting out from vibration or feedback?

RE: OnBoard Monster Truck Camera
it was cutting out as i was quite far away from my house and the receiver was indoors connected to my pc behind many walls ...it works glitch free outside .when the receiver is connected to the lap top in a nice open area ....and v smoothly over tarmac..also my double sided velcro is probly not the best thing to attach it with as it still moves a little (but wont/hasnt came off)
