Quarter Scale Dragster

RE: Quarter Scale Dragster
It's already heavy enough. If I welded bars for this part, it would end up another 1.5 - 2 kg. This way, it's only 110 grams
and probably just as strong. The tie rods are stainless tube (tapped) axle is same, but I just shoved a 3/16" threaded rod through it.
To get the bearings to "sit" (in traxxas wheels) I just put a few small pieces of heat shrink on the threaded rod. Bodgy I know,
but it works.[sm=spinnyeyes.gif]

I'm having a hard time remembering...
I'm sure they are front wheels..from a junior kart.
I know the wheels you're talking about...front kart wheels do have bearings pressed in, where as rears have the 3 hub locator holes.
Maybe they're rear rims?
Can't remember.
Anyhow, I got the left side painted red today, so I started finishing the right side.
I have emailed the dimensions of my pipe to my mate who said he'd make me a titanium job, just waiting for all that to come through.

Hey Mudgy
Looking real nice. Wish I had your patience for your build. Close to 2 years in this thread and you had a good jump then. Definetly worth the wait!!!!

Thanks fellas...yup, patience is a virtue, alright.
I could have the left side finished at Easter, that means I'll only be waiting for my pipe to show up, then
it's time to go for a drive.

Whilst waiting for this component to materialise, I worked on the steering and front wheels were balanced today....
No more axle vibrations ...... used a Du Bro propeller balancer tool

all Stainless steel parts are finished

Tried Quarterscales, and found one 1/4 scale pro-stock. Would have jumped on it , but $3000 plus is outta my league []

It's a starter for planes'n'boats
Made a pulley for the flywheel (machined off the fins)
12V DC
seems to work OK
