Well, I was doing more "glassing, and the weather turned cold....what to do when waiting a painful amount of time for the resin to go off?
Make the damn wheelie bar!!!
I need to get Traxxas whelels for the Revo/Jato wheelie bar to finish it off.

Nutting out a wing now...Got some Carbon Fibre arrow shafts from an Archery store, Used 1/8 Buggy rod ends to hold the struts to the chassis.
Just a bit of 3/16" threaded rod - JB weld it in, and .....voila! A wing strut is made.

I have thin sheet alloy for the wing itself, and some old timber for the internal frame (something to stick the struts to)

Had a little more time today, so I have the wing mostly made up in my head, so it's back to finishing up the body, so I can do the chassis final work (paint, clean - up, and tidy up the bare metal bits)

They came from a 1990- 1991 model battery powered scooter called a "Techno" I have used 2 x front wheels from 2 x scooters on my car - these could be very hard to locate.
They were the smallest pneumatic tyre/rim combo I found.

Rim halves are alloy,

tyre is "Qing Da Rubber Co. Ltd. pressure 36PSI, 6 x 1 1/4"

I reckon they would be too big for your ride, as my rail (with wheelie bar) is now 8' long.[X(][X(]

yes, we spell it tyre here.

Well, the wing is near finished.... I got the sheet of alloy out today (6061)
and it's been so long in storage, it's turned to crap.[>:][>:]
So much for a polished metal wing.[&o][]

looks like it will have to be painted now. Probably white aileron, with red side spats.
Maybe I can have construction finished by tomorrow, maybe then i can turn my attention back to the chassis, and running gear...........

Also working out a shield for the driver's head - obviously the carb will poke through this, but the scale look will pay off.[8D]

Nah Mate, it was more buggered than that, I'll have to sand it hard, and just paint it. Never mind, a coloured wing may just look a little better than the standard alloy job.

Anyhow, I had some time this weekend to finish up the wing (ABOUT TIME!!!)
I just need to put the rake at the right angle, then fit the adjuster rods into the main stay shafts.

Now I can go back to the final touches on the bodyshell, then I can go back to finishing up the chassis & bling parts, and away we go!!! yee - hah!

Thanks, mate.

I may now be known as the owner of the sexiest wing in the world!!!

I cut the rest of the arrow shafts to stiffen up the wing frame................Carbon Fibre and Loc-Tite 406 are the best of friends..

check it out

I can now turn my attention back to the body (final touches)

then back to the chassis (final touches, again)

and away we go

woo - hoo!!!

Got to use ITW polymer titanium putty
this stuff's not cheap! Stupid me sanded the pipe down to look nice[&o]
Oh well, we live'n'learn
Once that's finished, away we go!!
I've been layering resin and smoothing off the body while saving my pennies for this pipe epoxy

http://www.itw-devcon.com.au/driver....titanium+putty

seems to be the only way to "glue" my pipe back together again

Spoke to a Plastics company (yacht builders)
said if the alloy is insulated via an epoxy medium) then I could carbon fibre over the top.
THEN I could play baseball with the thing!!!

Still waiting for my Devcon to arrive....
made a mock-up windshield out of polycarb. Borrowed a piece from a mate who uses the stuff to plasticise the playing field of old pinball machines.
Most of the dags in the bodyshell have been sorted out, so maybe by the end of this weekend, i will have it ready for some paint ('bout time!)
