the marine head comes heavily ported....$55 head kit......... price other 27cc ported head kits starts about $75....wanted to try something different.
Thats cool, so how did it work? How much total? I plan on doing a head kit and would like a black head (going stealth).

Besides the clip flying off and going everywhere, no not at all. Why? Only problem I had with the spur is when I twisted (too much torque from the stock 23cc CY) the main drive shaft from the differential. It stripped the spur because it was not aligned.

Piston stopper:

Or some people put string down in the cylinder and jam it but I do not like the idea of putting something in my engine.

Thats $155 for a head kit? You could get a complete kit for that? Is it at least ported and all that fun stuff?

Thats the price for the head kit and heat sink.....now if i seize up the piston or ring I take off the heat sink, I can reuse it over and over

.the entire head kit is only $55 yes ported rated at 4hp http://www.davesmotors.com/store/product1658.html

Will it work with the CY23?

Fits CY29RC engines or other engines with +2mm stroker if the cylinder is modified or a .040" copper gasket is used.

Will I need to buy a 2mm stroker?

If you use a new or old gear, place on the pinion and spur gears so to lock them together, then you can remove the hex screw in the pinion gear. Sometimes you have to lever the spur gear off!

Yes, thats what I used the stock 23 cc CY thats comes with the KM, no stroker needed

This kit can also be used as an air cooled cylinder head, if the Darksoul heat sink is used. In this case, these top ends will also function well as replacement top ends for Zenoah G230RC/G260RC, and Chung Yang CY23RC/CY26RC/CY27RC/GP290

I am terribly disappointed.

My KM baja arrived today and from what I can see the quality is not even close to the real thing. To be honest and fair - it's a piece of crap and a cheap clone.

Things that I have seen until now:
1. Shocks are so bad that they leak. Until now I have rebuilt one, and this is what I found: It was half empty when i got the buggy. It was filled with some kerosene smelling oil, instead of silicone. The parts quality is very bad. It's not even close (except for size and shape) to the real thing in quality. The shock does not have any orings. It only has one thick gasket that cannot hold 25wt oil inside. Shocks don't have HPI adjust technology. It's just a thick piston with two very small holes.
2. Some screws were stripped (one on the rear arm, one on the front arm) (i've removed 8 screws until now, 2 were stripped).
3. Some of the screws/nuts were already rusted.

Guys, please tell me if anyone of you opened the shocks up. Are they how I described or close to the real thing?

Thanks.

Yes that is correct they do not have the adjuster system that the Gen baja has in the shocks, but of course you can fit gen replacement shock kits if you want, and even better replace with the up graded 6mm shaft type.
You must remember with any "Copy or Clone" it will not be the same as the original! and the price of a KMS baja really says that! the money you have saved can be spend fitting up grade parts that you want to! and really when you look at all the companies selling up grade parts for the Gen baja do you think that is 100% good?

I have the KM baja - from v*tec.

I have drilled the shock pistons trough the existing holes with a 1mm drill. I am using 25wt in the front, 35wt in the rear. I was lucky to find 4 orings in my pit box. I used those to create better seal.

Are u guys sure that the HPI shock piston parts (85412) are compatible with these shocks?

Thanks,

Edit: Noted that the pull-start doesn't have a metal recoil ring as some of you have.

Wow in wallmart? Damn! That is sweet. But I can tell you what's going to happen. HPI is going to take legal action against a company distributing a copied product of a copyrighted product.
Just a little update:
Bent 1 front shock and 1 rear shock; not bad though it is still runable.
The front wheel cracked.
I put my badhorsie's on and they look great.
Put the windows on and man it looks sweet.
Put the outerwears airfilter on. Was a pain
Put rear fasteddy turnbuckles on and those are SWEET.
It is not running right now picause the pin in the rear hex hub fell out. I ordered 18 of them.
It looks as if the rear right hub is cracked and allows wiggle of the toe.
Thats pretty much all I can think of right now.

Nope the copywright is only good for awhile (I believe 1 yr).....research it.

the product had been out over 3 years.....plus there is enough of a difference to say it not a 100% copy

Return and exchange lines might get alittle longer

If walmart really has these...I'm sure they have cheecked out the legalities

Couple brief points for you:

#1) Copyright has nothing to do with this - rather, we are concerned with trade dress, trademarks, trade secrets, and/or patents.
#2) Patents are good for 20 years from filing date; copyrights are generally good for 70 years plus life of the author; trademarks and trade dress can be perpetual.

Don't be so quick to assume anything with respect to legality.

make the item have a 10% difference which they do......and any patent or copyright is null and void

Why dont we hear about any actual lawsiuts or pending ones.... these clones have been out for over a year now..they are still on ebay being sold by importors.

And now a major nation wide chain store is importing and selling these?? If thats true and they have these in stock....I'm sure they crossed their Ts and dotted their I s
