Default New 5B body out of the paint booth: now mounted, 11/13/08

This body is for the 5BSS I picked up a few weeks back. I can never leave well enough alone. The body that came with the car was ok, but I wanted to put my own flare on it.

The dark color is actually a FasKolor metallic purple. The rest of the colors are Pactra colors- red, yellow, white and black. the body didn't turn out as good as I wanted it due to time constraints (e.g. I have none), but it still turned out ok.

The 5B is in a million pieces right now going through a rebuild, so here is the body by itself.

I dabble. I enjoy painting and hate it at the same time. If I had a lot of time I would enjoy it. However, I usually only have 2 hours to pull off a complete paint job start to finish.

Yeah, I don't have the patience to even mask anything that fancy. I mask straight lines - and even then I don't always get clean results. Painting is one of those things I've never been good that. Unfortunately that's why I can't enjoy scale modeling - since there is so much emphasis on painting.

I have totally mixed feelings about painting. Part of me loves it and the other part despises it... Go figure.

Nice and clean looking flames.

I went with a flame design on my SS 'ja also.

One minor nitpick if I may? The nose piece is too yellow.
If it was my car I'd do another nose cone in the fire red and just "burst" the center of it with the yellow like you did throughout the rest of the "fat" areas of the fire detail. Its one of the drawbacks of painting and "forgetting" how our scheme will look after we spray fast, and then I assume ua.... go
" ohh crap..... I forgot the yelllow fades in..." LOL

So many times Ive done that with other projects... It happens

Yup, agreed. I tried to get a more gradual fade and blew it. I should have had a little more red in the nose and gone from red to yellow instead of red to white. I wanted a dramatic fade but I did miss the mark.

Thanks! Can't wait to get it on the car... 5B is about 50% put together now.

Here is the body mounted now... I had to leave the engine out because it is just too smelly to keep on the car when its inside.

Looks great dale. Do you sand down the edges after you cut it. And what do you sand it with?
