Default I want to get something freakishly fast

Title pretty much says it, I want to get a 1/5 or 1/6 gas powered vehicle that is rather zippy. I'm open to all suggestions regarding kits, gearing, parts, on or off road etc.

As some of you know my latest FG monster truck was stolen from my storage room a long with a bunch of others stuff, but I got compensated quite well by my
homeowners insurance. Just looking for something to replace the void

I was thinking of getting one of the new FG 4x4 trucks, but then started thinking about absurdly fast on-road alternatives.

Yeah, I'm looking at that as well - maybe with a nice TS engine... [&:]

for that kind of money you can get an off road and a speed demon.lol
i wouldn't recomend making a 1/5 scale speed demon. that kind of weight in a collision with a curb will kill your car (bent chasis, broken suspension parts bent driveshafts, cracked wheels)
whould you consider a large nitro intead???

Been there done that. I have nitro speed demons. I want a gas one .

Right now im still leaning towards getting the 4x4 competition monster truck, an absurdly powerful engine, and tall gearing. That way I'll be pretty fast but can still deal with off road if I feel like it.

sounds good, i'd get the fg competition baja since it is lighter, lower to the ground(thus faster).....
there is also the mcd line to consider as well..
i'm looking forward to drooling over the build
good luck

Get some sort of 2wd FG rc and put a 2speed on it. Change out the stock gears to something with real top speed and a TS engine.

the trevor simpsom won't fit the fg he wants.
sounds like you still want to jump it. plus some bottomend make offroad more fun. the bottomend on a nitro engines put 1/5 to shame

The TS won't fit the FG 4x4 comp. MT? I didn't know it was shaped too differently :/

if you want just speed & no off road.. FG F1 comp is the way to go... these things fly

if you want best of both... FG Stadium with tuned engine/pipe 2nd gear etc

From stock FG Monsters/Stadium push around 35mph, with tuned pipe around the 40mph mark... but the pipe adds ALOT more power than top end, 2nd gear along with tuned pipe & tuned engine you prob looking at around 55-60mph mark.

chances of you doing 55-60mph off road will be slim.. & if you do, please record it & post on here the aftermath :P

Someone mentioned that nitro put gas to shame on the bottom end... dunno what gasser you have but my FG beetle pro from stock has more than enough power/low end... jumps are no problem & the power is there when i need it... from stock! ....either you have a clone with a gimp engine or you aint tuned it correct or have a gasket blowing somewhere?. The Zenoah engine (if tuned correct) pump out more than enough power.

dont jus take my word for it... video beow is my FG beetle BEFORE i tuned it properly! but it still handled jumps well & i was only going slow Ive not bashed it properly since i tuned it, this winter though gunna be going forest again regulary so will get alot more footage :-)

check out this guys vid. i'm going to ask him what engine and pipe he has. that thing rips and you can see traction is one of the things to consider with the bigfoot tires.
almost forgot the link http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_8125114/tm.htm

The popular FG of choice here is the is the Baja. One thing with the baja is that once it becomes a speed machine, its only good for onroad. We've accomplised to make one dual purpose but it was a headache so we scratched it and stuck to onroad. The motor of choice here is definetly the ESP fully modded 30.5 and jetpro pipe combo and a set of FG onroad wheels will get you started, then a set of custom gears is next. They're not expensive and are very effective. This combo will get you close to 70. If youre interested, send me a PM and I'll let you know where you can get the gearing from, but you need the first couple of things or the gearing will be useless. The stock motor will never pull it.

Kingpin, I got your PM but didnt know you ran somewhere with loose dirt. I'd honestly keep the stadium wheels and gear it to where it needs to be. The thing I love about the FGs is that I can go from 45 offroad to 65 onroad in less than 5 minutes. The gearing change is so easy on these that I dont even change tires anymore. I run the stadium wheels and the stock baja wheels and just change gearing. The only thing we found about the stock wheels is that the foam inside likes to separate at high speed and then you have a wheel with a lump that basically useless, so we started running the stadium wheels without foam in them and these seem to work fine for the dual purpose.

I had problems with the foam lumping in my fg baja wheels, after struggling with 3-4 tire removals and I figured just cover the ends of the foam in heaps of superglue to stick em together seems to have cured it...shame fg don't make the inserts like hpi, maybe the hpi ones would work in fgb tires.. anyone tried it.
you can get the one piece foams for the fg monster tire but not anything else

get a 4wd fg competition truck and turn it into an electric truck.

check out those vids. not my truck. but quite impressiv power there. and that is just the beginning. there sure is upside potential in performance.
