Okay, I laughed at that. Too funny. You could just buy a kids atv and throw in a remote system for a lot less. It would be 100X cooler too.

100% RC or not - it's still a cool idea.
The kids can ride it to the track, have a bash, and then ride it home again.
Bet it's not cheap though....[X(]

I remember someone who make a home made RC by using a child's 4wheeler and it actually ran great!

Here is what I am thinking about. Buy one of these:
http://www.pccmotor.com/brand-new-ki...4-wheele4.html
Do an RC mod to it, leave the handlebars and seat on, so your kid can ride it. When he/he gets tired of it, they run in to wash up for dinner while you turn on the elctronics and bash it!
I'm acutally surprised how cheap this thing is. Actually, I have trepidadion about letting an actual chile ride on it, how safe can such a cheap ATV be for actual use? Maybe it is safe, but for its price, I cannot help that safety was one of the sacrifices to make it so cheap. So, I would simply just convert it into a large scale RC and make a large truck shell to put on it (of course stripping of the seat and handle bars.
Damn...Now gears are turning in my head. This kiddie ATV is cheaper than an RTR nitro Savage!

The thing that people forget about converting mini ATVs is that they're of insanely low build quality. They're almost exclusively rebranded no-name Chinese imports, poorly welded, poor reliability, poor suspension, poor quality chain drive. etc.
The result is that after you put in a few hundred dollars into your steering solution you're still left with something with very poor handling. So if this thing is actually of higher quality and the suspension actually works properly it may be a much better choice.

Does anyone know how much this thing in the video costs?
And am I the only one thinking that engine didn't sound quite right? [&:]

As a single cylinder / 4 stroker that engine sounds just fine (typically found on most mopeds) [8D]
