Default Man, so many choices. What to do?

All I want to do is bash around. 35-40mph top speed would be perfect. Would like it to be tough and have parts that can be easily be replaced in the states.

King Motors seems to be a great option, but I prefer to get a truck over a buggy. Although, $500 is the prefect price.

Red Cat makes a nice truck, but they're up around $700.

HPI has the 5T, but its definitely out of my price range.

Fire Hammer can be had for ~$600ish, but is it any good?

FS Racing seems inexpensive, but I don't see much info about their off road models.

What do you all think I should get?

Since you are not willing to spend over $500, prbably the best RC under $700 USD would be the Redcat Rampage buggy (it is about $660, maybe even less on Ebay, or check out the RCU marketplace, someone might have one for sale, even used, which is not bad really).

For bashing, I really recommned you save up more, and dont settle for anything less than a Redcat Rampage MT (~$760 USD, but there might be sales, just ask). If that is to much, I suggest you dont go absolutely anything less than the Rampage buggy. The reason why I say this is because for one, they come with the proven CY engines (the same Fuelie engines on the HPI Bajas), they are fairly popular so they are proven and people know how to bullit proof their weaknesses with easy and inexpensive upgrades, the customer sercive of Redcat is very good, as well as the aftermarket options are decently abundant. Ask any of the Rampage owners here and they will tell you the same.

If you want a rail like buggy, I strongly suggest you save and get the Baja 5B. These are now significatly under $1000, I have seen the 5B SS kit for unde $900 USD and the 5B RTR for just barely over $900 USD. But if you are hell bent on not spending this much, I really really suggest you do not go any lower than the Redcats.

1/5 scale is a WHOLE lot more expensive then 1/10 or 1/8. So if you are looking for something cheap you will not find it in 1/5 scale in the long run.

I see you are in Atlanta I am in Macon. Are you interested in racing? We are working on staring a 1/5 scale class as the VRP track in Brooks GA not far from Griffin. Been racing 1/8 for about 4 years. If you would like more information let me know or PM me.

You did the right thing. I'd take a firehammer before a rampage, unless I was dead set on 4wd. Firehammer is based on the FG cars, very solid, you'll love it, good parts support.

I just hope a $300 FH is in reasonable condition.

They have a smartech traveller which is the exact same vehicle as the firehammer ...its better.... it comes with the zenoah 23cc not the dtx motor

I snagged one up from ebay for $190 plus ship look at ebay Item number: 270364523087 this is the seller they normally sell for $200-300 plus ship

You have to add your own servos and radio system....this is a great deal for a new vehicle...just the 23cc zenoah cost like $200 new
