RE: 'PROJECT' Quarterscale Pro Street Beretta
That's actually a pretty good idea DVP... I may do just that..
I now have both side window frames in place as well as the rear window support... I also have the side window pieces done that mate up with the tubs... Man them we're a pain in the *** to get in there correctly... There isn't much room for big hands in there that's for sure... I removed the Beretta from the support wood and I'm now working on finishing up the inner tubs section... I just need to cut a few small pieces and weld them in and run the grinder around it here N there... I should have that done here soon... Then on to the front end... Finally... Man I'm getting tired of working on this rear clip...
Here are a few shots of it as it looks now...

Yes.. A 1/4 scale blown hemi... I am still working on all the cad programs but should have the majority of them done by spring of 2012.. or there abouts... I will CNC machine the majority of it but there will still be some manual milling involved as well.. The hardest part will be machining the lower piston skirt clearance between the crank journals..
I am also going to manual machine a 2 speed with reverse tranny for it.. A turbo 350 replica... so to speak..

RE: 'PROJECT' Quarterscale Pro Street Beretta
Well i suppose if one would get that tecnical... But then again, why would one machine a turbo 350 replica for a hemi when one could machine a perfect mathing tranny such as a.

That's kinda what I have in mind.. Except the core will look like a turbo 350 trans... I also have aditional plans for the 350 look... thats why I'm going with a 350 design..
It'll look something along the lines of this one... Except for the exterior... This is a T-5 replica

I immediately knew that was a T-5 because I'm a fox body mustang nut. I have grenaded several stock t-5's running them on the street with over 500 hp lol.
I love my C-4's with a good transbrake and a nice billet converter but I am a 5 speed guy at heart.
I can't wait to see your trans once finished. You are doing great work so far.

Thanks.. I can't take the credit of this T-5 though my friend... Ohh no... This is the work of one of the most talented machinins I know of.. MR. gbritnell over on.. http://www.homemodelenginemachinist.com/
Well I now have the fender brackets fabricated and in place... I'll be notching the door/fender gaps next... I'll go with a 0.060'' or there abouts... Then on to the windshield frame... Whooo Hooo... She's getting there!!!

I now have the windshield frame tack welded and in place, as well as the dash support N '' Cold Air Box '' on a real drag car the cold air box is primarily used to re-direct the air flow from the rear of the scoop.. BUT... in my case it will create a space beyond the windshield so i can sit the motor back a little further.. It should make the overall stance of the car look a little mean.
I'll be making the fender/hood support brackets next then onto the front bumper, that should be a piece of cake to make...
Later!

Wow looks like this is coming along very nicely. You could have told me this was a full scale car build and I would have believed you It looks incredibly realistic!

Well i now have the hood support channels in place and I'm currently fabricating the header panel... I'm awaiting more materials from online metals then I'll fabricate the front bumper... and so on

RE: 'PROJECT' Quarterscale Pro Street Beretta
I now have the majority of the header panel done and in place.. I just need to weld on a support piece that will support the grill mounting tabs,, as well as drill the holes for the lights to pass through... I'm going to build the headlight reflectors within the headligh assembly.. The grill will be constructed from, 0.0598'' (16 ga) cold roll steel.. Which I'm awaiting.. It's going to be built just like the real thing is.. NOT them cheap looking filler panel gills on the later model berettas... I don't know what GM was thinking when they came up with that design.. The grill is the primary focus point on all cars.. The last pic is the type of grill I'm going to build..
I'll be putting together a video 7 on it soon.. I'll go a little in depth on the future steps I'll be taking on the Beretta build...

RE: 'PROJECT' Quarterscale Pro Street Beretta
Update.. sort of
I wasn't happy with the hood so i fabricated a new one for it.. as well as re-fabricated the cowl induction scoop.. I cut off the old sides and altered the width of it and made some new sides for it... It looks a little more realistic now... It'll eventually look as if it's molded into the hood once done... Via... Z-Grip.. body filler...
Note... These images of the beretta with the engine in are just a mock up view of it... The blower is one of many hand crafted molds i made when i tried going the sand casting route.. which failed,, due i part to not taking the casting shrincage issue into concideration when crafting them.. they are true to scale. 1/4 scale.. but the casting process made the actuall part shrink by nearly 3%,, So needles to say... out with the old and in with the new... The hemi will be CNC / Manual machined from various types of materials.. The HEMI will actually sit about an inch lower that it appears in these views.. The block is just sitting on a board straddling the frame rails in these shots..
I now have the cowl induction scoop boxed in.. I'm currently working on forming the rear lip on the hood.. then I'll tack the scoop in place.. then onto the grill/bumper

You referring to the Beretta or the poster in the forground..
It'll probably be a few weeks before i get back to working on the Beretta.. I lost my dear mother 9-18-11 and things are quite hectic around the home front.. My mother and I were very close and this is just tearing my heart to pieces..

My condolences to you, i am sorry for your loss, it hurts to hear. I hope working on the car can be a part of the healing process, if you know what i mean. A bit of recreation maybe.

RE: 'PROJECT' Quarterscale Pro Street Beretta
Thank's guys.. It's been very hard on me since we lost our mother but one must accept death i suppose..
I have been doing some work on the Beretta and I'll post some updated pics @ a later date... I got the majority of the mock up hemi done and bolted in, both F/R motor plates, the cowl induction hood, the header panel, I am now working on the grill. I should have it welded up and in place this weekend.. I'll post pics later

RE: 'PROJECT' Quarterscale Pro Street Beretta
Well hopefully it'll be a beauty once done... I'm finally getting back to the grill.. It's actually a simple design... I just cut the top/bottom/sides to size.. tack welded them together.. Cut the Horizontal/Vertical pieces to size, & now just need to notch the vertical pieces to recess into the horizontal pieces.. they'll be spaces @ 3/16'' apart from one another and tack welded on the rear of it.. There will be no exposed welds by doing it this way.. It should look fairly clean..
Pics as it looks now... I have started the machining on the hemi block and will post pics in the near future.
