Default Polyhedral for the Huron

Hello everyone I was wondering if any one has modified the wing on a NES Huron DLG to ad polyhedral and to remove the two ailerons all together. I'm thinking of performing the mod on mine but I would also like some more input from some of the more experienced DLG'ers out there. The reasons that I want to do this is so that it will fly slower, thermal better, reduce the number of channels, and to make it lighter. I do understand that if I were to purchase a more top of the line DLG that it would more easily solve my situation but that will cost a lot more money even though I will be getting a bird of a much better feather.

Default Huron

Noticed that you built a Huron some time ago.
I'm very new at this game: have only built 4 or 5 electric models so far. How did you attach stab to fuselage? The lack of directions have me snowed. A beautiful plane at the right price but from now on I'll stick to models by Great Planes or someone that can put good instructions in their kits.
Would greatly appreciate any suggestions.
Thanks,
George

Default Hello Palacegypsy

I must agree with you about the instructions (There really is none). How I installed the stab? I sanded a flat spot on top of the boom, Them just simply CA'd it to it (keep it straight as possible), then I used some baking soda and made a fillit on both sides of the glue joint, then smooth it with you're finger and soak the fillit with thin CA. This method did fail one time for me butwith little damage to the model then I made the repairs and its fine now.

If you intend to DLG launch this glider I highly recomend stripping the covering from the center rib and strengthen the center rib with carbon fiber ribbon and thin CA.

This glider is descent and will teach you how to DLG launch a glider but i you're really serious about DLG's get a bagged airship (later). I bought a Cyberdyne from Tracy Brown. A Taboo is also sweet. There are about 6 models Available in the US.

Many thanks! I will do it as you suggested.
Also had not heard of your baking soda technique. If it worked for you though, I'll give it a try. Thanks again.
